Enjoying using my collection of hand carved rubber stamps to print designs on wooden bookmarks. Getting ready for a busy few weeks of art markets...

Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th I'm at Hexagon House, Knaresborough with Bravo Studio Artists as part of Knaresborough's FEVA festival.

Friday 21st & Saturday 22nd I'm in Pateley Bridge Pateley Makers Yard - King Street Workshops and I'll also have some artwork in the exhibition at Broadbelt Hall, Glasshouses with Pateley Bridge Art Club from Saturday 22nd to Monday 24th.

Finally, I'm taking part in the Nidd Art Trail . I'll be in Pateley Bridge Memorial Hall on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th August, along with lots of other artists including the Nidderdale Stitchers which I'm part of.

I feel very lucky to live in such a creative and welcoming area. Nidderdale is a truly inspiring place, in terms of landscape and people.

Happy Yorkshire Day! 🀍
I'll be at three art fairs this month. The first is in Knaresborough as part of the Knaresborough's FEVA (Festival of Entertainment and Visual Arts).
I'll be joining resident artists in Hexagon House, along with lots of other local artists and makers as part of a two day art market on 15 & 16 August. Free entry.
I'll have lots of new lino prints, cards and decorations. Come and say hello!

My baking linocut printed in yellow ochre and 'Cornishware' blue.
Which do you prefer? πŸ€”πŸ’™πŸ’›

I've printed it onto ivory Thai Mulberry paper for mounting and on some 5x7 inch greetings cards.

I'll be selling these, along with my gardening and other prints plus watercolours at my next fair, which is Knaresborough's FEVA festival on 15 and 16 August. I'll be at Bravo Studios in Hexagon House, along with some wonderful artists. Very much looking forward to it!

Feel free to get in touch if you'd like to order something though. Cards are Β£3 each or 2 for Β£5 plus p&p if needed.

Pulling my first test print...really pleased! Needs a few minor tweaks but it's almost ready for printing cards and prints for mounting.
I tried a tube of yellow ochre for this one...what do you think? I'll try some other colours too. Blue? Pink? Any thoughts/suggestions grateful received! πŸ€”

Actual print size is 6x4 inches.

I've finished carving my baking linocut. πŸ₯£ 🧁 🍰

I haven't had chance to do a test print yet...I'm hoping some of the fiddly bits come out OK. Deciding to add liquid in the jug and something (flour/sugar?) in the scales made it more complicated, so we'll see! 🀞

Made the first cut on my new linocut design. Excited and nervous to carve all the little baking items.... 😬 πŸ₯£πŸ°πŸ§

Several hours of sketching, planning and then drawing and tracing the final design to transfer it backwards onto the lino (so the lettering then prints the right way round...and yes I have sometimes forgotten that in the past! πŸ™„). Then I drew over the transferred pencil lines with a fine Sharpie pen so they don't get smeared as I'm carving. Working out what to carve out and what to leave is the hardest part...

The block is yellow because I painted it with acrylic paint. This will help me to see more clearly what I have carved.

My gardening print. (Print size 6x4 inches) 🌿
The first photo is on ivory Thai Mulberry paper. It has visible fibres in the paper which gives the print a gorgeous texture. I thought it fitted well with the gardening subject matter. I tried it on more visibly flecked natural mulberry paper too...the darker flecks distract a bit from the print details I think πŸ€” (photo 4). I also managed a good print on a tote bag and cards.

Carving this block has boosted my confidence. I feared I was being a bit ambitious with all the small details but it came out really well in the end. I enjoyed the challenge of mixing a sage green too.

As you can see from photo 6, I spent a lot of time sketching ideas, what to include and how to draw it all. I used a whole page drawing pruners! πŸ™„πŸ˜†

I'll be selling mounted prints on the mulberry paper and A5 hand printed cards of this design at upcoming fairs. If you'd like one, feel free to get in touch.
