๐บ Have you seen our lovely Frida yet?
๐ Sheโs been bringing a little more colour to Oxford Street over the past few weeks, but make sure you stop by and say hello before she leaves our window!
๐ธ Donโt forget to snap a selfie with Frida and tag Artizan Shop so we can see and share!
Our beautiful hand-cut mosaic of Frida Kahlo was designed by local artist and inclusive community arts facilitator Douglas Black, then lovingly brought to life over three months by our talented artists with disabilities during our weekly mosaic workshops.
We chose Frida because her story is one of resilience. Despite living with significant physical disabilities and chronic pain, she created extraordinary art that continues to inspire people around the world. Her determination, creativity and refusal to let disability define her felt like the perfect reflection of our members who created this mosaic.
Every single tile was carefully placed by hand, making this far more than just a window display. Itโs a celebration of creativity, inclusion, teamwork and the amazing things that happen when everyone has the opportunity to shine.
While youโre here, have a browse of our Frida-inspired gifts and products, all handmade locally by our talented makers and inspired by the same spirit behind this project.
