So... let’s talk about keep cool coats.

Does my greyhound need one?

Greyhounds, due to their lack of body fat and fur, are much more susceptible than other dogs to heat exhaustion - their lean frame means that their vital organs are much closer to the surface. Therefore, in hot weather a keep cool coat is a great way to help them keep their body temperature regulated.

Why is a keep cool coat better than a cooling mat?

A keep cool coats stays on your hound wherever they go, I don’t know whether other people’s hounds are like mine, but I couldn’t imagine either of mine staying laid on a mat of my choosing - they would probably lay everywhere BUT on the mat!

How do AK Creations keep cool coats work?

My keep cool coats are very simple. They are made from a high quality cotton towelling fabric which is REALLY absorbent - this is important as it means the coat will be more effective and for a longer time. They come supplied in a soaking tub, so all you need to do is fill the tub (with the coat in it) with cool (not freezing or even really cold) tap water. Then wring the coat out and put it on your hound. If your dog is already hot when you put the coat on, you will see the effects pretty much immediately. When the coat starts to dry out, either remove it completely or re-wet.

All dogs should be chilling inside on a day like this. All windows and doors are open so it doesn’t feel too bad inside our house, but I have their cool coats at the ready just in case 👍
