Gratitude fills your soul with appreciation for the things that you have. What are you grateful for today?

This isn't something I struggle with since I started my own business but I know how difficult it can be to muster enthusiasm when all you want to do is watch a boxset on Netflix.

The Top 4 Ways to Build Enthusiasm Before Work Each Day

Even the most dedicated employee has days of not wanting to go to work! It starts when you open your eyes and think about the tasks ahead. You'd much rather be relaxing on a beach, watching Netflix or catching up with friends!

Building that enthusiasm each morning before work can be difficult. The stresses of the job can stomp on your motivation. At that stage, you start to display less than desirable performance at the office.

With those thoughts in mind, it's time to start building enthusiasm.

This 4-step approach is the difference between uninspired days at the office and the drive to make each work day productive:

1. Develop an attitude of gratitude. Above all else, remember to be grateful for life's opportunities. Take a moment each morning to consider how you got the job. Consider what it took to get where you are.

2. Set reasonable daily goals. Sometimes work can seem de-motivating because you have too much on your plate. It's important to maintain control of that. Set manageable "To Do" lists each day. That way, you'll feel more inspired to take on the day.

3. Create an inspiring work environment. Have you stopped to consider that your work environment isn't inspiring? It's certainly a possible reason for your lack of enthusiasm.

4. Participate in a hobby. Sometimes all it takes is finding enjoyment outside of work. When you participate in hobbies, you achieve a level of inner peace and satisfaction. You also become more invigorated.

Now that you know how to build enthusiasm for work, it's time to implement the strategy. Today is the day to make the change. Expect your mornings before work to change for the better with these strategies.

Another little bit of self-reflection. Small changes lead to big improvements. I am going to commit to making small changes every day and focus on the overall picture. Will you join me?

Only a small amount of effort each day can lead to big changes over time. I know that small changes can be easier to maintain than larger changes. I am patient enough to take my time. Small, consistent changes can lead to significant improvements.

I have control over my thoughts and behaviour. It is easy for me to make changes and stick with them. I avoid dwelling on the changes I make. My mind is free of concern.

I possess the ability to persist and maintain changes until I reach my destination.

I remind myself that a simple river created the Grand Canyon. The ocean waves have turned rock into sand. My daily behaviours can have a similar effect over the course of my lifetime. A simple change in my diet or financial habits can lead to massive change down the road.

Perfection is a myth. I place my attention on constant change and improvement. These two things make all the difference. Slow and steady wins the race of life.

Today, I am adopting one small change to make a positive impact on my future. I am committed to maintaining that change. I am earning the things I deserve by making the necessary changes today.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. What changes would I have made three years ago if I could go back in time?
2. What changes can I make today to enhance my life three years from now?
3. Why have I failed to maintain changes in the past?

There’s a lot of talk about intentional living. But what does it really mean? Intentional living is living with purpose and making decisions that support that purpose.

It’s the opposite of what most people do. Most people are satisfied with the status quo and only take action to deal with their disasters that happen along the way.

Intentional living is about choosing the type of person you want to be and the type of life you want to live, and then holding yourself to it.

Try these techniques to live an intentional life and stop relying on luck:

1. Understand that choices matter. An intentional life is all about making choices that make sense for you and your beliefs. Your choices determine the direction of your life and are the first step to creating the results you experience.

● Your greatest power is the power of decision.

● Your past doesn’t have to be an issue. You can change how you view the world and live in a new way.

2. Describe your dream life. Have a target in mind. Think about how you’d like to live. Be bold and leave your limitations behind for a moment.

● Think about your ideal day. How would you spend your time? Who else would be there? Where would you live? What would your finances be like? Give it some thought.

3. Know your values. A big part of intentional living is living according to your values. It’s not about reacting to everything in the most expedient fashion. It’s about living on your own terms. It’s necessary to be intimately familiar with your values to accomplish that.

4. Set goals for the major areas of your life. These typically include your finances, career, relationships, and health. Of course, you can add as many categories as you need, depending on your aspirations and values.

5. Choose habits that support those goals. Intentional living is much easier with supportive habits in place. You’ll run out of willpower otherwise. Pick a couple of simple, but effective habits that will help you to attain each of your goals and begin implementing them.

6. Choose how you spend your time. Most of us don’t give a lot of thought to what we do each day. Keeping your dreams and values in mind, what is the best thing for you to do at this moment? What do you need to accomplish today? Make choices and avoid operating on autopilot.

7. Gain control over your impulses. Most of our impulses lead us in the wrong direction. They’re often habitual and related to pleasure or avoiding discomfort. Intentional living is about making rational decisions and following through regardless of comfort.

● Following your impulses is the opposite of intentional living.

8. Reject distractions. This includes all distractions, including thoughts of the past or future. Intention require presence. Distractions are by definition things you shouldn’t be doing at that moment. Even paying your bills can be a distraction if you should be doing something more important at that time.

9. Measure yourself. How well did you do today at living intentionally? What challenges did you face? Where did you fall short? What can you do tomorrow even better than you did today?

● Learn something from each day that you can apply to the future.

Are you choosing and creating your life or just living by default? Having a life you love will never happen by accident. Be bold enough to choose the life you want to lead. Decide the type of person you want to be. Make your decisions and choose your actions accordingly.

Live intentionally. It’s the best way to respect yourself and your life.

Sometimes, we all forget to live in the present. By learning to let go of the past, your future can be what you decide it is going to be.

Affirmation:

My past is behind me.

I am free of my past. What has happened no longer influences my life. I can leave the past behind me and look ahead to the future.

At times, I may have failed in the past, but I am unburdened by these setbacks. I can see the future with a positive perspective.

I use my past successes to my advantage. If I am going to look to my past, I focus on my successes. This keeps my outlook positive and hopeful.

I maintain my strongest focus on the present. I live each day to the fullest and enjoy everything that life has to offer. Many exciting things are happening around me. I steal from my present and my future when I focus on the past.

I know that I am unable to change the past. However, I am optimistic about the future.

The future can be whatever I choose to make it.

Today, I am giving up the past for the present. My mind is rooted in the present moment with an eye looking toward the future. I have a bright future and choose to forget the past. My life is looking better than ever.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. How has my preoccupation with the past harmed me and my life?
2. What would I do right now without the burden of the past?
3. How do I allow the past to affect my future?
