When children and parents make music together, something special happens. 🎵

At The Children's Museum at La Habra in California, an empty courtyard that once housed a much-loved wooden train has been transformed into a vibrant musical play space thanks to a Percussion Play Rainbow Trio Ensemble.

Today, the area is filled with music, laughter, and creativity as children explore the instruments through spontaneous, open-ended play. From familiar nursery rhymes to completely original compositions, every visit brings a new soundtrack.
"The kids love it, the parents love it. It's simply there for free play, and it's honestly been so great," says Sarah Magallanes from the museum.

One of the most rewarding outcomes has been the increase in family engagement.

"We've seen such a large engagement boost, especially with parents playing alongside their children. Watching parents get involved in their child's play has been one of the biggest benefits."

Visitors are now welcomed by the joyful sounds of children making music as they arrive, creating a memorable first impression that perfectly reflects the museum's hands-on approach to learning and discovery.

Stories like this remind us why outdoor music matters. It doesn't just transform spaces. It creates opportunities for creativity, connection, and shared experiences that bring families together.
