Eastern invert show! We're coming for you!

Sunday 13th September

We've started getting everything ready for Sunday’s invert show in Gillingham!

We’ll have our usual selection of tarantulas, livefood and dry goods, along with a few special arrivals — including Theraphosa stirmi and Avicularia metallica, both available to take home!

If you’ve seen something on the website that you want to collect at the show, you can reserve it now by selecting COLLECT AT EASTERN SHOW – Under the I’LL COLLECT MYSELF option at checkout.

So come and say hello, have a look around and make all this preparation and traveling worth it 😁😁

Who’s excited for this year’s Eastern Invert Show? 👀

We’ve officially started getting everything ready for what should be an epic day this Sunday!

We’ll have our usual selection of tarantulas, livefood and dry goods, PLUS we’ll have some very special arrivals with us — including Theraphosa stirmi ✅ & Avicularia metallica ✅ available to take home.

And if there’s something on our website you’ve had your eye on, don’t leave it until Sunday! You can select COLLECT AT EASTERN SHOW - UNDER ILL COLLECT MYSELF at checkout and reserve it with us now, then collect it from our table at the show.

So come and say hello, have a browse and help us justify all the hours we’ve spent preparing for this.

Thiania bhamoensis – Fighting Spider / metallic blue jumper

Small and mighty but absolutely beautiful spiders! And such active little hunters.

Found across parts of Asia, including Myanmar, Thailand, India, China, Laos and Indonesia.

They have such lovely metallic green/blue colouring, which is even better when they light catches them as they move around!

They should be kept in a well-ventilated enclosure with climbing space.

Naturally they thrive high up on tropical foliage, showing a strong preference for large, vibrant greens like Spider Lily plants. Instead of spinning traditional webs, they adapt to their warm, humid habitats by stitching two leaves together with silk to form cozy, shelters. These private little leafy pockets serve as their dedicated spots for resting, shedding their skin, and safely laying their eggs.

These ones are feeding really well and looking fantastic!

We’ve got some lovely new arrivals at Portsmouth Tarantulas! 😍

🕷️ Theraphosa stirmi
🕷️ Avicularia metallica
🕷️ Aphonopelma seemanni

These will all undergo their usual 4–6 week quarantine period before becoming available for sale. We’ve got a fair few of each, and they’ll all be sexed before sale. 😁

Portsmouth Tarantulas will be closed this coming bank holiday, Monday 31st August.

It’s the summer holidays and, if I’m honest, I haven’t had any proper time off with the kids, so I’ve decided to close the shop for the day and have some much-needed family time

Thank you so much for your understanding, and we’ll be back open as usual on Tuesday 1st at 9am!

⚠️WARNING⚠️

Unfortunately, all live animal shipping will be delayed this week due to the ridiculous temperatures we're expecting.

Just like we stop shipping during freezing weather, we also have to delay it when it's hot enough to fry an egg on the pavement. Animal welfare WILL always comes first!!!!

Sorry for the inconvenience, but look on the bright side — you don't have to spend the week sweating by the window waiting for the postie. Get out and enjoy the sunshine instead!

I will also be sending emails so please do leave a real email address 🙄 (You'll be surprised how many people DONT & then they moan about not getting updates)
