As part of wider government action to protect consumers, “rogue traders like rip-off locksmiths” have been referenced in a recent UK Government press release.

At a time when household budgets are under pressure, this is a significant step — it shows the issue is now being recognised at government level, with action to “rewire enforcement to clamp down” firmly on the agenda.

Alongside our ongoing engagement with the Department for Business and Trade, it’s encouraging to see this issue gaining attention at government level. However, meaningful action and enforcement are still needed.

First job of the day in Haywards Heath for someone who's a little nervous about noises they heard outside last night and called us early this morning to add some additional security on the front door. Another happy customer but will need to start locking up half an hour before leaving!

🚨 We’ve launched a UK Parliament petition calling for action on rogue emergency trade adverts.

After months of work — collecting complaints, BBC interviews, and writing to MPs — we’ve now launched a UK Parliament petition calling for action on rogue emergency trade adverts.

It calls for search engines to verify advertisers, stop “bait and switch” pricing, and remove scam adverts quickly.

While locksmiths are heavily affected, this is happening across many emergency trades, so the petition has been written to cover all trades.

Free and well worth going to do.

We’ve just seen this on another post and well worth going along as the Police are doing this.
