Rapkyns Nursery A family run nursery growing over 1500 varieties of shrubs, climbers and perennials A real garden in pots and it’s free to enter, no booking required.

We don’t have a show garden like some local nurseries because the whole nursery is a show garden! Plus every plant is for sale so when you spot a little gem in one of our creative inspirations, just pick it up and put it in your trolley. Also if you feel a display could be improved, feel free to move the plants around. We really do love to have your input. Please do wander up and down our paths, a

dmiring the plant combinations and enjoy the vistas while being inspired by our special nursery complete with prairie garden, hot and cool borders, secret Victorian parlour garden and fernery but watch out for the dinosaurs! Then take a rest in one of our secluded seating areas while you think about your own garden. Don't think of Rapkyns Nursery as just a nursery! It is much more than that.

It is a garden in pots, full of inspiration and colour that just happens to have plants for sale. There are places to sit and contemplate or to just take some time for your self. There is a beautiful beach hut to admire, benches in the sun and a large gazebo casting plenty of shade. We dont have a tea room but you are encouraged to bring a picnic and we always have free cold drinks available.

Rudbeckia, Helenium, grasses, Phlox, Alstromeria, Helianthus, Tritonia, Dahlia, Salvia and so much more all in flower and looking resplendent. There really is so much to see at Rapkyns Nursery right now and as we head into late summer, there is plenty still to flower.

The Rapkyns Nursery snake just keeps growing!!

It would be great if you added to him too. We have plenty of pebbles and paint at the nursery or create your own at home and drop it off.

We have been very quiet over the last couple of weeks, mainly down to the lack of rain so there has been plenty of time for Twiglet and Toasty to get up to mischief!!

Here Toasty is amongst the perennials looking for frogs! There is still plenty of colour at Rapkyns Nursery and our compost has water retainer in it to help prevent drying out so I can honestly say it is looking pretty amazing.

A rock snake has started to grow at Rapkyns Nursery and hopefully he will be a big feature at Open Studios @ Rapkyns on Sat 5th & Sun 6th Sept.

The nursery will be overflowing with all things arty for the whole weekend with many artists giving demonstrations, plus you will be able to have a go too!

To get in the mood I am encouraging all my volunteers and customers to paint a rock to make the snake grow. (Either paint at home or come along to the nursery any day we are open and paint one here - all paint and rocks provided) let's see how big he will grow!

Twiglet and Toasty are managing to keep cool by staying in the shade. They hope you are too.

If your garden is lacking shade, you are very welcome to spend time at Rapkyns Nursery where there is plenty of shade under our new gazebo and normally a cool breeze too.

Why not bring a picnic or coffee and cake and take some time for yourself or maybe meet up with a friend. We are very casual and welcome everyone, whether they want to buy plants or not.
