🇮🇹 Val Sesia Adventures 🇮🇹

We were recently sent some fantastic photos from a European kayaking trip by customer and good friend of the shop, Ian Jones.

Ian headed out to the Val Sesia region of Italy, a destination that has become legendary among whitewater paddlers from the UK and across Europe. With steep creeks, technical rapids and stunning alpine scenery, it offers a very different feel to the runs many of us enjoy week in, week out here in the UK. Rivers such as the Egua, Gronda and Sesia are famous names in the paddling world, and the Val Sesia River Festival in May is one that should be on every passionate whitewater kayaker’s bucket list. The coffee and ice cream is pretty good too, should you need any further tempting!

The photos perfectly capture the essence of paddling in this incredible area. Huge thanks to Giorgio Schiavon for the brilliant photography and for allowing us to share his work.

And if you look closely, you might spot a few Robin Hood Watersports stickers making an appearance along the way! It’s always great to see our small family-owned shop represented out on adventures across Europe.

Every now and then, someone quietly redefines what's possible.

This week, Guy Bridge completed an astonishing 400km foil downwinder from Devon to Kent. 400 kilometres, riding open water and tide races along the south coast of England, primarily by paddling onto foil, with a parawing helping when conditions required.

For anyone who understands foiling, it's hard to overstate just how extraordinary this is. Unlike locations such as Maui, the UK has never been considered a downwind mecca.

Whether you're into wing foiling, SUP, surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing or just love spending time on the water, Guy's journey is guaranteed to inspire.

☀️ Spring into scuba diving. Training continues year round ☀️

With the sunshine returning and water temperatures on the rise, we’ve been back at Capernwray running our full programme of dive training, from Open Water Diver through to Rescue Diver and beyond.

It’s great to see divers enjoying the improving conditions, building confidence, and progressing through their qualifications in far more comfortable conditions as we move through spring and into summer.

One of the things that sets us apart is that we’re not just an open water training centre, we’re a full dive school with our own in-store training pool and classroom facilities. That means theory sessions and confined water training can be completed at your own pace, with no time pressure, before heading to open water.
