Welcome to The Village Yarn Room! My name is Anne-Marie and ever since I was a little girl I have always loved wool shops.

My Grandma was a keen knitter and would take me with her when she visited her local wool shop. I just loved the vast array of different colours and textures on display, all that squishy gorgeousness! My Grandma taught me to knit when I was 5 years old, and I’ve been knitting ever since. Although, I do keep promising myself that I will learn to crochet, but just never get around to it. I have to admit to yarn envy whenever I see all those beautiful crocheted granny square blankets in all their rainbow coloured glory. I had often dreamed of owning a wool shop, so I’m delighted to be able to sell Cygnet Yarns from my home in Helmshore, in the beautiful Rossendale Valley, Lancashire. I stock a wide variety of Cygnet yarns, so whatever your project or price pocket, I’m sure I can help you find the perfect yarn for you. I’m excited to introduce a new yarn to the Village Yarn Room shelves. And it’s in my favourite range, it’s a Baby Yarn 🧶 💝

Tickly Tots is a beautiful self-striping baby yarn with aa subtle, marbled colour variegation and a soft stripe effect. It is a DK weight yarn and it is anti-pilling, so it is perfect for knitting and crocheting baby and children’s wear. This yarn is beautifully soft and gives a distinct vintage feel to knitted and crocheted baby clothing.

If you are local to Helmshore, why not come and join us tomorrow, November 2nd, at our Knit and Natter, Crochet and Chatter session?

We meet every 1st and 3rd Thursday from 12-2pm, in the Community Café, of Helmshore Textile Museum.

We are a lovely, friendly group of knitters and crocheters of all abilities. There is always lots of chatter and laughter, and the café sells delicious sandwiches and cakes!

You can be sure of a lovely woolly welcome 🧶

Our next Knit and Natter, Crochet and Chatter session will be held tomorrow, Thursday 29th June, at Helmshore Textile Mill and Museum. 🧶💖
We shall be meeting in the Community Café from 12 noon til 2 pm.
We are a lovely, friendly, welcoming group. And I can promise plenty of nattering and chattering, a lot of laughter, and some knitting and crocheting too!

BRIGHT RAINBOW BOBBLE BLANKET KIT - £7.50 🌈🧶

When I first launched this kit, it was so popular that I sold out within days and I have received amazing feedback about how well written the pattern is, how well the colours work together, and the quality of the wool.

The kit includes a colour printed pattern with instructions to make the Bobble Blanket, and 6 balls of DK yarn.

The simple bobble stitch pattern is worked on a 4mm or 4.5mm hook, (depending on your tension) to make a vibrant, colourful blanket to cheer up any dull day, so why not have a go!

The finished measurements of the blanket are 97cm x 89cm.

We had another lovely session at our Knit and Natter, Crochet and Chatter group.

Lesley, Jane, Margaret, Liz and myself had so much fun! There was certainly lots of chattering and nattering! Who knew we could talk about so many diverse subjects in one session, and goodness did we laugh!! 🤣😆

Oh, and we did get some knitting and crochet done too 🧶

If you would like to join us we meet in the Community Café at Helmshore Textile Mill and Museum on the first and third Thursday of each month, between 12 noon and 2pm.

It’s BARGAIN BUNDLE time 🧶🧶🧶

I hope you have been enjoying this beautiful summer weather, although I must admit that this afternoon’s thunderstorm and downpour was a welcome relief, especially for the garden!

I have been busy reorganising the Yarn Room and restocking the shelves this afternoon, and there’s quite a few yarns which need to go to make room for new stock. Which means that there will be one or two bargains to be had. And who doesn’t love a bargain, especially when it’s a Yarn Bargain 🧶💗
