Inside Studio Richter Mahr
Surrounded by woodland in rural Oxfordshire, Studio Richter Mahr is the combined studio space of visual artist Yulia Mahr and composer Max Richter.
Designed to feel “more human” than traditional recording studios, SRM is built for Max and other resident artists to simply focus on their art without the technology distracting from the process.
The foundation of the studio setup – spanning a live room, control room, Max’s writing room and a number of programming suites - is the RME HDSPe MADI FX card, which allows MADI streams to be passed from room to room across the facility seamlessly. Within Max’s writing room, RME 12Mic and M-32 Pro Converter units are hidden away out of sight, connecting his enviable collection of synthesisers.
We sat down with Max to discuss his journey into contemporary classical and film composition, his career highlights and how RME’s MADI solutions form the audio infrastructure at Studio Richter Mahr.
