🦜 A lovely little wildlife moment on walk!

I spotted a whole group of parakeets flying around together, chirping away to each other as they went. They certainly make themselves known when they’re about! 😂💚

Has anyone else been seeing lots of parakeets around lately?

🐝 I just find bees absolutely fascinating — I could honestly watch them for ages!

There’s always so much going on inside the hive, and every inspection seems to teach us something new. They definitely have their own way of letting you know when they’ve had enough of your presence in their home too 😂

Does anyone else have any interesting bee facts, behaviours or little things you’ve noticed while keeping or watching bees? We’d love to hear them! 🍯🌿

🐝 The bees are doing really well!

As we head towards the colder months, we’re now starting to think about getting the hive properly prepared for winter.

If there are any beekeepers in Hertfordshire or elsewhere in the UK who have any tips on winter preparation — feeding, insulation, ventilation, hive checks or anything else we should be thinking about — we’d really appreciate your advice. 🍯🌿

Always learning, and it’s great to hear what works for other beekeepers.

🥒 One of the fun things about growing your own… you never quite know what shape you’re going to get! 😂🌱

We certainly get some interesting shapes and sizes coming out of the garden, but that’s all part of the fun of homegrown produce.

Not supermarket perfect — just naturally grown! 💚

🫐 Our blueberry plant seems to have had a real growth spurt!

Since the really hot weather has eased off a bit, it seems to have put on loads of fresh growth. 🌿

Has anyone else noticed their blueberries or other plants suddenly taking off now the temperatures are a little cooler?

🪶 Lunch with a view!

There are a couple of ponds near where I work, and this heron seems to have found itself a pretty good lunch spot. 🐟😄

Always nice catching little moments like this and seeing the local wildlife going about its day.

🍅 Think it’s time to start making some sauces! 😄

The tomatoes are coming in thick and fast now, so we’d better start turning some of them into homemade sauces for dinners before we’re completely overrun. 🌿🍝
