Less than a week after this Linn LP12 was under the screwdriver for a Valhalla Electronics Zeus PSU upgrade, we’ve now fitted a Linn Kore.

Giving the turntable a much more solid presentation, providing a very stiff platform for the bearing, platter, arm and cartridge. A very worthwhile upgrade and now this LP12 is playing better than ever!

A customer popped in this afternoon looking to get back into Hifi for the 1st in a while. Mainly looking to play back their existing vinyl collection, stream internet radio & Amazon music. After discussing a number of options and listening to a few others we settled on a Ruark Audio R610 with the matching Sabre-R speakers. The customer was thrilled with the sound quality, ease of use and connectivity options. Vinyl playback will be handled by the ever popular Planar 1 with an upgraded Carbon Pro stylus.

Looking for a bit of early 2000’s summer nostalgia, Jamie went to play ‘Fly or Die’ from N.E.R.D today, only to find it’s not on any streaming services!

So, out comes the CD, minutes later it’s ripped to our Bluesound Vault 2i and playing throughout the shop on our Roksan Caspian Pre/Power & Monitor Audio Gold 300 at the front, linked to the Bluesound Node, Quad HiFi 3 & ESL’s in the demo room and the Bluesound Pulse Mini 2i at the back of the shop.

Over 20 years later and still showing the relevance and importance of physical media. Just because something’s on a streaming service today, doesn’t mean it will be tomorrow!
