Mastercraft Cycles

Mastercraft Cycles Traditionally run by Nigel and Lynette, who are the second generation of a family run cycle shop In 1953 “Mastercraft Cycles” was born.

It was founded by Eddie Thompson who is the present owners father. The business was run by Eddie and his wife until their retirement in 2000 when it was taken over by daughter Lynette and son-in –law Nigel . They were later joined by part time mechanic Richard who also advises on IT matters. As a small family run business, we are able to keep our eye on the ball and offer a good old-fashioned per

sonal service at a fair price! We haven’t changed the quality of service that we offer to customers over the last 60 years as that’s what makes Mastercraft Cycles so unique .

🚲 A Fond Farewell from Mastercraft Cycles 🚲

Mastercraft Cycles was founded back in 1953 by the current owner’s father – Eddie Thompson. Eddie was well known in the cycling fraternity for being a pretty good racing cyclist and his particular passion was Cyclo Cross. He was also quite well known as “Mr Mastercraft” and was always ready to help and advise on bike repairs or the suitability of a new bicycle for his well thought of customers.

The business was successful and Eddie eventually brought in his wife Sylvia and later daughter Lynette also joined the team.
In 2000 Eddie and Sylvia decided that the time was right to take a well earned retirement after running the show for 47 years, and passed the business over to Lynette and son in law Nigel.

Nigel and Lynette continued to run the shop in a very similar manner with the exception of having to install a computer system of course! There was a plan to update from the old “open all hours” till to a more modern electronic system but it never happened and the OLD TILL is still being used to this day! Lynette says that they receive great comments about it most days. “People just love it and are so pleased to see that it is still in use”.

Having successfully continued with the cycle shop for 25 years, Nigel and Lynette have decided that the time is now right for them to retire. Lynette said that it has been wonderful serving the people of Hereford and beyond and we have some fabulous memories to take away with us. It hasn’t always been plain sailing but on the whole we wouldn’t have changed what we did for the past 25 years for anything.

Nigel and Lynette would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all customers, past and present, for their tremendous support over all these years. We really couldn’t have stayed so long without you all.

Drop in to check out our closing down sale with many items vastly reduced, some by up to 75% !

Our last day will be Saturday 31st May and everyone is invited to join us for a drink (and maybe a bit of cake)! From 10am onwards.
Hopefully we shall see some of you then . Please pop by if you can make it.
