Hi Everyone. Well, it is nearly the end of 2023, and things are about to change for us and our work. We will be leaving the Herefordshire Guild of Craftsmen. I joined in 1988 and Ant in 1994. As of January 2024, we will be following new paths with our work. We will be experimenting with different resins and expanding our ranges. Here is just a taster of things to come. It is something we have never done before, but has infinite possibilities. These pressed flowers are set into metal findings, (there are duplicate images here to show close- ups) but we are also using open moulds for pendants and ear rings. and much more. They will be on show at the Worcester Cathedral Christmas Fair, November 30th to December 3rd. Details are on their website. Thanks for looking.

Hi Everyone.
It's been a long time since we posted anything new. We are trying to take things up a notch with the resin jewellery. This idea is in its infancy and the concept was given a lot of thought. The ex*****on of the idea was not straight forward either. The entire pendant, whichever design, is created with resins. Each pendant is made in 2 parts. The idea was to make something that had energy and movement.
The first 2 designs are flowing moulten lava and flowing water. The outer parts are cast with metallic powders. For the lava, it is set lava that is naturally darker. We have used dark bronze. The outer part of the water is river bank with a soil apperance, using a lighter bronze. When set, they are finished with wire wool to bring the metal appearance out. The lava and water are created with transparent coloured resins, layered up to achieve the required look. From the rear, you will see that the lava and water flow into, and out of the design and there is a cut away section for added drama. The pendant bail is likely to alter, but for now, they are perfectly wearable. They are approx 1.5inches X 1inch in size.

Good morning - I hope you are having a good weekend so far. Today, we are showcasing the work of woodturner, Kim Davis.

Kim's work is stunning. The simplicity of his vessel-forms display the grain and natural colour of the woods being used. His making is a response to the nature of the wood and is intuitive and emotional rather than prescriptive and defining; the form that emerges is a reaction to the wood being used.

You can certainly see the beauty of the wood in this piece. And yes, there's more at The Nest! Come and see it - open daily 10-4.30pm.
