𝗠𝗔𝗝𝗢𝗥 𝗜𝗡𝗖𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗧

Significant wildfires are currently affecting areas across our region. South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, alongside partner agencies and supporting resources, is responding to a number of incidents.

To help keep communities and emergency responders safe, please follow this important advice from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service:

• Report suspicious behaviour or suspected deliberate fire-setting to the police by calling 101.

• Only call 999 if you need to report a new emergency. Please do not call to request updates about existing incidents.

• Stay away from affected areas and avoid unnecessary travel nearby. This will allow emergency services to access incidents and operate safely and effectively.

• Do not use barbecues or fire pits during the prolonged period of dry weather.

• Do not light fires outdoors under any circumstances.

• Follow all local restrictions, closures and safety advice issued by the emergency services and relevant authorities.

𝗦𝗠𝗢𝗞𝗘 𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗜𝗖𝗘

If you are in an area affected by smoke, keep windows and doors closed where possible and follow the latest health advice from Public Health Wales.

Please remain vigilant, act responsibly and help us reduce the risk of further fires while emergency services continue to respond across the region.

So – what is a bryophyte? Well, in a nutshell, it’s the collective name for mosses, liverworts and hornworts – and most people have some idea of what mosses look like, even if it is just as ‘that annoying green stuff that tries to take over my lawn’. If you’d like to know more though, yo...
