We had an interesting Saturday, spent inspecting and ultimately making plqayable, the old dame at Aberdare. This interesting instrument started life as a two manual Vowles of 1885, with a prepared for third division provided in 1911, though never installed. A major rebuild was undertaken in 1969 by the firm of Nicholson. One assumes it was at this time the winding was 'modernised' with removal of a large double-rise, for replacement by two wind regulators. Some 5 weeks ago the transformer failed and the church have been without the organ, as part of our visit we removed this and provided a new Meanwell switched mode power supply. We also took the opportunity to rectify a couple of long standing issues, tightened the positive wire to Swell IIIrk Mixture to allow this stop to be used (or switched off), and rectified touching drawstop contacts on Tremulant so this stop could be reconnected
