If you’re a parent or carer of a child or young person who uses a wheelchair, we’d love to meet you! Come along, say hello and find out more about how Chunc can support your family’s mobility journey.

🧡 Specialist seating for recovery

We’ll be showcasing our Spica specialist seating rental service, designed to support children during temporary periods of reduced mobility, including recovery following hip, spinal or lower limb surgery.

Spica can provide a safe, comfortable and supportive seating option while your child recovers, helping them get back to everyday life at home, at school and out in the community.

Every Spica chair is individually configured to meet the child’s needs and can be delivered and set up at home or in hospital by our seating specialists.

Parents and carers are welcome at our seminar too!

We’re also hosting:

Pressure and Postural Management in Seating

Although the session is aimed primarily at healthcare professionals, parents and carers are very welcome to attend.

We’ll be talking about how pressure, posture and comfort can affect the way children and young people sit, move and take part in everyday activities, and what good postural support can look like.

A lovely bit of feedback for our team 🧡

We recently received a wonderful message from Nick, whose daughter Imogen is waiting for her new wheelchair.

After contacting Chunc to find out what information was needed to progress her quote, our Seating Specialist, Marc, quickly got in touch and helped Nick work out what measurements were needed.

Nick was then able to take the measurements at home and send them over, and even though Marc was travelling to Devon, he still responded and was able to get the information he needed.

Nick said: “Marc was brilliant with her in clinic a while back and he’s been brilliant with me today.”

We know that waiting for specialist equipment can be a frustrating and uncertain time for families. So when we can help answer a question, provide some reassurance or simply keep things moving, we want to.

A huge thank you to Nick for taking the time to share this with us, and a big well done to Marc for going the extra mile.

We’re keeping our fingers crossed that Imogen’s new chair journey continues to move in the right direction!

Are you getting ready for a wheelchair assessment?

We’ve refreshed our Family Wheelchair Pre-Assessment Form to help families think through what’s important before an assessment.

It’s a simple way to start thinking about:

❓️What’s working well with the current wheelchair?
❓️What has changed since the last assessment?
❓️What would you like to achieve from the assessment or with a new chair?
❓️Are there any challenges, concerns or priorities you’d like to talk about?

Taking a little time to think about these things beforehand can help make sure the assessment starts with what matters most to your child and family.

You don’t need to have all the answers, the form is simply there to help you gather your thoughts and make sure the things that are important to you don’t get missed.

Recovering from surgery can be a challenging time for both children and their families. That's why our seating specialists take the time to ensure every child is positioned safely, comfortably and with the support they need to aid their recovery.
