Smart Merchants Ltd Smart Merchants are an Electrical and Security Supplier based in Hertford, Bishop's Stortford & Hitchin, Herts. We are currently updating our Website in 2025.

We offer superb service and value to our Customers. After a combined period of 50+ years (now that is scary) working for some of the biggest and best names in the Electrical Industry Richard Marsh and Mark Watts decided they had something to offer local Electricians and users of Electrical products and set up Smart Merchants Ltd. With their knowledge of the Electrical Industry and a keen eye on ne

w technology they are always on the look out for new products for their Customers establishing added value for the Contractor and ultimately value for money for the end client. At Smart Merchants we are always proactively looking for and open to new opportunities that creates synergy within the business. In 2011 we employed James Sibthorpe to head up our Security and CCTV division. Adding Security, Access Control and CCTV creates the type of Synergy we are looking for and the business has gone from strength to strength. In the summer of 2013 our first Smart Merchants Website went live. The site was a full shopping portal and allowed our Customers to place orders online, at their agreed terms, automatically creating the paperwork for the delivery to take place. The Website created new opportunities for Smart Merchants as we were now in a position to supply goods nationally and it enhanced our customers experience when dealing with us. So watch this space for when it will goes live...

In May 2015 our 2nd Branch opened for business in Bishop's Stortford

In June 2019 Smart Merchants acquire the stock and goodwill of Asset Fixings in Hitchin. The tools and fixings business had been trading for over 25 years in Wilbury Way. In January 2021, we incorporated Electrical products into Hitchin and start trading as an Electrical, tools and fixings business. Fast forward to Today in 2025 it is now fully operational as our 3rd Branch
