Many consumers are concerned about the quality of the food that they eat. Organic food is food you can trust. It must be certified by law so you can be assured that the product & ingredients come from verified sources. At Hareround Organic we have chosen to farm organically, it is not easy and takes real commitment & attention to detail. We work with nature, using crop rotations & clover to build

fertility in the soil. Our organic stock are bought in direct from other farms, not through markets, and usually at a young age so that they are able to adapt easily to our farming system. We choose animals that are suited to grazing outdoors; “zero grazing” (where animals are kept indoors & fresh grass taken to them), is banned under organic standards. Animals are reared without the routine use of antibiotics or wormers, and all animal feed is GM free. Our animals are fed on grass and clover, whether grazed directly in the summer, or preserved by bailing into silage for the winter. This is supplemented by oats, barley, beans, Lucerne pellets, and minerals. Most feed is grown and prepared on farm. Animals are processed locally, and we have complete traceability of the product from arrival on our farm to arrival at your door. In addition to concerns over safety and quality, many of us want to live in a way that reduces our environmental impact. Choosing local, organic, and seasonal food can significantly reduce your carbon footprint and organic farming can help fight against climate change by sequestering carbon in soils. Ultimately, we make decisions as we shop as to whether what we are buying is good value, and good food is a treat that we all want at least occasionally. Many shoppers choose organic because it tastes good.

Christmas box – £50 containing 1 full size roasting joint, 1 mini roast, 2 packs of steak (choice subject to availability)

Cattle eat a lot of food especially during the winter (I think we can all relate to that). They need quite a high protein and energy diet to make sure they keep growing. We process all the grain that we feed our animals on farm from our own crops. The only things going into our organic feed are, beans, oats, wheat, organic non gm soy oil, and minerals.
