ELLO PLUCKERS, Matt here and Greetings from castle Greyskull and my ever growing collection of Wonky Garfield’s.

As you guys are aware Ive taken a step back from Bad Obsession for a little while as the family are dealing with a traumatic event at the moment and my focus is with all my loved ones at this time. As someone who has also suffered with Mental Health problems for many years I’ve been feeling myself dipping for a while and needed to reset the old grey matter whilst supporting the Fam.

As Arnie and the Terminators once sang “I’ll be back” look it up, its a real single released from the 90’s (it’s terrible)

Paul has been steadying the good Bad Obsession ship in my absence and has also had an ear for me to talk to which I’m extremely grateful for.

Whilst we’ve been chatting about things we’ve also been chatting about future ideas and projects we’re going to bring to the page when we’re back to full steam and the contents of the box is going to be the result of one of those conversations.

We’re also going to be supporting the charity “Mind” so we’re going to be holding a Coffee morning event in the near future at Rewind Rehearsal Rooms to raise some money and give people the opportunity to meet up, have a chat, look at maybe starting a band or just have a look around Rewind if you haven’t been here before. You’ll also get to see the infamous Reverend Dan from Orion Guitars UK in his natural environment to see what services he offers in regards to set ups and mods or to just waffle guitars.

See you soon pluckers, Love U.

Hi everyone!

Strings. We all need them. What does everyone think about the variety now available from your preferred manufacturer?

I was hugely skeptical about half gauge sets when they were first released, but have to say I’ve been impressed by them since trying them.

Morning all!

Had a little play with this Neon Egg Planetarium 3 yesterday evening, it’s incredible - more to follow soon.

Unfortunately, these are now discontinued (as of 20th September 2026) due to part supply, but my word… it is incredibly good. I am very excited to see what they come up with next!

In short, it is a Reverb, Echo and Compressor. The reverb alone is amazing - everything from a small room to a huge cavernous expanse is possible. The echo is a lot of fun too.

There are lots of demos on the usual video sources, and I’ll be doing my own take on this gem very soon.

Who remembers these?!?

Like a time capsule hidden in a drawer for 20 years… except I listen to exactly the same stuff now 😂

Hi Everyone, Paul here!

At long last, I have an “info-waffle” about my guitar rig.

If you can stand 10minutes of my voice, then you’re in for a treat! If not, probably best that you scroll past.

Big upgrade on the audio this time, too… if my voice wasn’t dull enough already 😂

Everyone should have access to mental health support that makes them feel seen, really seen. On the same day they ask for help and
Mind won't stop campaigning until this happens.

We’re going to be popping a collection tin in the Reception of Rewind Rehearsal Rooms so that bit of change after paying for jamming or a can of pop would be more than appreciated to help the charity.

And if the Toy shop door is open and you wanna come and have a coffee, chat about guitars and music or you’re just struggling in your own head and want to start a conversation then we’ll be happy to listen and maybe we can help.

Hi Everyone, Paul here!

I hope you’re all having a great weekend, wherever you are and whatever you’re doing.

We’ve had some recording gear arrive, which means not only will my voice be even more dull, we will be able to record better quality and, hopefully, informative videos and audio.

As you all know by now, I am a huge fan of the 80’s - I was just about born in it, so that counts, right?!

As a result I am on a quest to keep it alive and have been collecting guitars and gear from this era, as well as those inspired by it.

Here is my 2018 AXN Guitars Sunset Strip. This is a very special instrument, built by Johnny DiFatta. The guy is a walking encyclopaedia of knowledge when I comes to 80’s superstars, and builds impeccable instruments to very specific details to ensure they rock 🤘

Next week I’ll share some more updates on my main rig, as I’ve got to a place where I’m really happy with it and it will allow me to test drive the new recording kit.

Hey Everyone, Paul here!

It’s been a while since I’ve subjected you all to my drone of a voice, but thought I’d share an update on my new rig. Apologies again for the background hiss… I will resolve that with a proper mic soon… and yes I’ll work on “erm” not being the most said word in a video!

I’m completely new to MIDI programming but, even as a complete novice, I’m really happy with what I’ve managed to do with this.

The Neural DSP quad cortex mini is providing mostly amps and cabs, along with some effects controlled within scenes. The Fractal Audio VP4 is the main controller of the rig, along with providing effects at the front of the signal chain and some via the fx loop. As both units use “scenes” to control large changes in sounds (basically switching multiple effects and amps together in one button), it means can focus more on playing than tap dancing.

I’ll have it with me on Tuesday evenings Rewind Rehearsal Rooms if anyone fancies a chat about it or having a go with it. I’ll get some recordings of it tomorrow, too - playing 1 handed isn’t a strong point… some of you have heard me play with 2 hands, and that ain’t much better!

Thanks again to Dan Orion Guitars UK for fitting the push/push to my Kramer Baretta. Great service as always!
