Blackdyke Trout Fly Fishery Fully stocked Fly Fishery with Rainbow and Brown trout. Wheelie boat available £10 - for disabled anglers to enjoy being out on the water.

The Blackdyke Trout Fly Fishery is situated near Hockwold-cum-Wilton, just 10 miles west of Thetford in the county of Norfolk in an area surrounded by beautiful East Anglian countryside and consists of a very clear 8 acre lake with large grassy banks for ease of
The fishery has been establishing itself for over 12 years now. A few rowing boats are available (£5) and float tubers are most welcome( launch fee £5). The lake has an abundance of natural fly life with a good stock of "hard fighting" rainbow trout from 2lb up to 12lb which respond well to dry flies. There is also a population of brown trout. The pretty village of Hockwold-cum-Wilton boasts several pubs and restaurants, a shop as does neighbouring Feltwell. The fishery is closed July and August every year. Season tickets available ( Sept -June)

Tomorrow, with great sadness we say goodbye to one of the most wonderful people we have met over the years here at the fishery. Jim was a legend in too many ways to mention. Generous, funny, smart and kind - a person who couldn't do enough for us and who became part of our family over the years. An almost everyday visit with him and Freckles until her sad passing and sometimes, his beautiful wife Joan - he shared stories that showed he had a full and flourishing life. He was such an interesting and inspiring man. He was even brave enough to take Maya out for a few driving lessons when she was learning how to drive. We loved him and will miss him dearly. RIP Jim Dye. 💙

Ken Webb came to give a two young lads a lesson this morning. It was slow first thing but a few casts in and he had a lovely silver rainbow with a nice full tail. He caught it using a blob and since then it's started to pick up a bit with few more coming in. One was a four pounder caught with a pink lure and dries have started to kick in a bit also.

The fish were taking off the top all day today up at the top end of the lake. The takes were aggressive and constant and it looked as though it should have been easy fishing but it wasn't. They were taking something very small but it was not easy to figure out what. After putting in a lot of work after his lesson Ken Arran caught his first rainbow with a fly rod using an emerger.
