🌾🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁿 A Little Welsh Tradition for September – Y Gaseg Fedi 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁿🌾

As we head towards the autumn equinox and the evenings begin drawing in, here’s a lovely old Welsh harvest tradition…

Y Gaseg Fedi – “The Harvest Mare” 🌾

At the end of the harvest, the last sheaf of corn held a special significance. In parts of Wales, harvesters would throw their sickles at the remaining stalks, each trying to be the one to cut the final sheaf.

The lucky harvester who succeeded would carry it home — although apparently getting there without being thoroughly soaked with water by everyone else was another matter! 😂💦

The last sheaf could be carefully kept, marking the end of the harvest and the changing of the seasons.

Long before supermarkets and year-round supplies, harvest time really mattered. These little traditions connected communities to the land, the seasons and the food that would see them through the months ahead. 🌾🍂

Another fascinating little piece of Welsh folklore and tradition that might otherwise quietly disappear into history.

😂 Three more deliveries have arrived!

I think we’ve officially reached the “musical shelves” stage in the stock room… 📦🎶

Move this box here, squeeze that one there, shuffle a shelf, rearrange another… and somehow convince ourselves that of course there’s room for everything! 😂

Lots more lovely stock to unpack, price and find a home for — never a dull moment at Tower Crafts! ❤️🐉

😂 Groundhog Restock Friday! 🔑🐉🏴

Does anyone else feel like we’ve been here before? 😂 The keyrings are being restocked AGAIN — our little Welsh dragons, sheep, Welsh ladies and other favourites clearly don’t like hanging around for long!

Another delivery, another round of unpacking, pricing and filling those gaps… 🔑

It must be Groundhog Restock Friday at Tower Crafts! 😂❤️

Pop in and grab your favourite before I’m writing this post all over again! 🤣 ‼️
