Let's be honest… most of us don't keep our old photographs neatly organised in beautiful albums. They're usually hiding in shoeboxes, stuffed in drawers, tucked away in the loft or lurking in cupboards, quietly multiplying when we're not looking!

The funny thing is, these photos hold some of our happiest memories, yet we rarely get to enjoy them because they're buried under years of life. Instead, they become one of those jobs we keep meaning to do "one day".

The good news is that sorting through your photographs doesn't mean throwing your memories away. It's simply about making it easier to find, enjoy and celebrate the moments that really matter. And no, you don't have to keep six blurry versions of the same family barbecue just because they've been in the box since 1998!

So, pop the kettle on, start with one small pile, and let's make those precious memories a joy to look through again instead of another task on the to-do list.

Have you ever spent 10 minutes looking for something you only had in your hand yesterday?

Your keys. Your glasses. That important letter. The charger you know was there.

Living with clutter isn’t just about having too much stuff. It’s exhausting. It creates extra jobs, extra stress and extra frustration in an already busy day.

And in this heat, who wants to be rummaging through piles of paperwork, overflowing cupboards or cluttered worktops just to find what they need?

Imagine instead knowing where things are. Opening a cupboard and finding what you’re looking for. Getting out of the door without a last-minute panic. Having a home that feels calmer, lighter and easier to manage.

Decluttering isn’t about perfection. It’s about making everyday life simpler.

If your home is making life harder than it needs to be, the team at A Tidy Mind Yorkshire would love to help, compassionately at your pace and without judgement 💚

Living with ADHD can get a bit messy.

You start off putting washing away and somehow end up rearranging a kitchen cupboard, finding a half-finished craft project and wondering why you've got six pairs of scissors but can't find one single pair when you actually need them.

If your house always feels like it's in a state of chaos, it might not be that you're bad at organising - you might just have too much stuff.

Between impulse buys, trying out new hobbies, and keeping things because they might come in handy one day, it's easy for things to build up without you even noticing.

Regular decluttering makes a huge difference.

The less you have to manage, the easier it is to keep on top of things.

✨ Have a look through your wardrobe and keep the clothes you actually wear and feel-good in. The ones that have been hanging there untouched for years could go to a charity shop and do some good elsewhere.

✨ The same goes for technology. Sell old devices before they lose their value, and be honest with yourself about those random cables you've been keeping "just in case". If you've no idea what they belong to, it's probably time to let them go.

✨ If you've bought something on a whim and it's been sat gathering dust ever since, sell it, donate it or pass it on to someone who'll get some use out of it.

✨ Try to give everything in your home a proper place. If you can't find a home for something, ask yourself whether you really need to keep it.

✨ And don't feel like you have to tackle everything at once. A quick declutter every month is far less overwhelming than waiting until it all gets too much. Put the kettle on, stick a podcast on, and chip away bit by bit.

You’ll get there! If you feel support would help, virtual or in-person, I’d love to offer you a free discovery call.

There’s something stopping you from decluttering.

And it’s probably not what you think.

It’s not because you’re lazy.
It’s not because you lack motivation.
And it’s not because you’re bad at being organised.

More often than not, the clutter isn’t the problem.

The shame, guilt and overwhelm that come with the clutter are.

I work with so many people who have bought the storage boxes, followed the decluttering accounts and tried every organising system going, yet they still feel stuck.

Not because they’re doing anything wrong.

But because they’re trying to organise their way out of something that needs understanding and compassion first.

This is especially true for many people with ADHD, where clutter is often linked to overwhelm, decision fatigue, executive functioning challenges and years of feeling judged for struggling.

At A Tidy Mind Yorkshire, there’s no judgement, no pressure and no one-size-fits-all approach.

We meet you where you are.

You stay in control, we work at your pace, and together we’ll create practical systems that work for you and your lifestyle.

We’ve been helping people across Yorkshire for 7 years and we’re fully insured, experienced and passionate about helping people feel calmer and more at ease in their homes.

If this resonates with you, save this post as a reminder that you don’t have to tackle it all on your own. 💚

📂 Is paperwork weighing you down?

You're not alone.

One of the things we hear most often is, "I just don't know where to start."

Paperwork paralysis is a very real thing.

Sometimes it's because you're keeping things "just in case" you might need them one day.

Sometimes you're worried about throwing something important away.

Sometimes you're frightened of identity theft and don't know what can safely be recycled or shredded.

And sometimes the sheer volume of paperwork has become so overwhelming that you avoid looking at it altogether.

Before you know it, paperwork is taking over cupboards, drawers, kitchen worktops and spare rooms, creating stress and anxiety every time you see it.

The good news is that it doesn't have to stay that way.

During our virtual paperwork decluttering sessions, we work through it together, step by step, from the comfort of your own home and at a pace that feels manageable for you.

We'll gather all of your paperwork together, declutter what you no longer need, categorise what you do need to keep, and decide on the best storage solution for your volume of paperwork and your space.

Together we'll create a paperwork system that is tailored to you, easy to maintain and, most importantly, sustainable.

There is no judgement and no pressure.

Just practical, compassionate support from someone who knows exactly where to start when you don't.

One of our favourite parts of these sessions is seeing the weight lift from our clients' shoulders as the piles reduce, paperwork becomes manageable and the stress and anxiety start to fade.

And there's another benefit too...

I can almost guarantee you'll save money. Whether it's finding duplicate insurance policies, spotting subscriptions you forgot about, uncovering in date vouchers, identifying better deals, or simply avoiding late payment charges because paperwork is no longer getting lost, organised paperwork often pays for itself.

If your paperwork is causing stress, let's tackle it together.

💻 Virtual paperwork decluttering sessions available UK-wide.

An ADHD Home Organisation Tip:

Stop trying to put things away.

Instead, create a home for where things are already plonked.

One of the biggest mistakes I see ADHD clients make is trying to force themselves into organising systems that look good but don't fit how they actually live.

Keys always end up on the kitchen worktop?
Create a tray there.

Post gets dropped on the dining table?
Put a basket there.

Coats discarded on a chair?
Add a hook nearby.

ADHD-friendly organising isn't about creating perfect systems.
It's about creating realistic ones.

If you're constantly leaving something in the same place, your brain is giving you useful information.

Work with it rather than fighting it.

The easier a system is to maintain, the more likely it is to stick.

✨ Organisation isn't about being disciplined or trying harder.

✨ It's about reducing effort.

What's one thing in your home that never seems to make it back to its "proper" place?

💚 Meet the team behind A Tidy Mind Yorkshire - and find out who we help

We’re a team of five compassionate women - Vicki, Becky, Caroline, Sonia and Jo - who love helping people to declutter and create homes that feel calmer, more manageable and easier to live in.

One of our lovely clients recently said:

"You are all very different, but equally brilliant at what you do."

And that perfectly sums up our team. We each bring our own strengths, experiences and personalities, but we all share the same commitment to helping people without judgement.

People often ask who our typical clients are, and the honest answer is... there isn't one.

Our clients come from all walks of life. They may be:

✨ Living with ADHD

✨ Recovering from a trauma or bereavement

✨ Struggling with mobility issues or health challenges

✨ Feeling overwhelmed by the demands of parenting, work and home life

✨ Facing a life transition such as moving home, retirement or divorce

While every situation is different, there is one thing our clients almost always have in common:

They feel overwhelmed and don't know where to start.

That's where we come in.

Because we do know where to start.

Whether you work with Caroline, Becky, Jo, Sonia or Vicki you'll receive the same compassionate, empathetic support. We work alongside you at your pace, helping you make decisions, create practical systems and regain control of your space.

There is no judgement.
No criticism.
No pressure.

We listen.
We motivate.
We coach.
We support.

As trained, professional and fully insured organisers, we're here to help you make progress, build confidence and create systems that work for you and your lifestyle.

You don't have to tackle it all on your own.

If clutter is affecting your home, your wellbeing or your peace of mind, we'd love to help.
