Shelter Shops We are Shelter’s shop in Horsforth. We sell a fantastic variety of items to raise funds to help end housing injustice. Home is a human right.

It's our foundation and it's where we thrive. Yet, every day millions of people are being devastated by the housing emergency. We exist to defend the right to a safe home. Because home is everything. We’re passionate about what we do, and love giving second-hand clothing a chance of going to a good home. Our shop teams ensure fighting the housing emergency never felt so fun.

We're kicking off our Rescue & Relove series of upcycling and restyling inspo with Rescue & Repair.

A while ago, Jemma found a shirt she liked from but thought the buttons needed changing to fit better. Rather than leaving it on the rail, she bought it and changed the buttons over using one of the how-to video guides on our website - simple! One less pre-loved item without a home and more money through the till for Shelter!

Last year we launched Rescue & Repair across our shop network with the aim to tackle clothing waste, teach people new skills and ultimately raise more money to fight against the housing emergency.

Through your support, our sales of sold as seen items almost doubled over the year, meaning more money raised to help us stand alongside people experiencing unfit housing and homelessness.

And we did our bit for the environment too, displacing 58,481 new purchases by repairing pre-loved instead of buying new.

But we think we can still go bigger this year. We’re re-launching the campaign as Rescue & Relove, encompassing repair alongside so many other ways you can make a preloved piece uniquely your own.

This month for we're heading to Harrogate.

Say hello to Anastasiya, who has recently joined the team as Assistant Manager. You may have seen her already feature on our Insta pages!

⭐How long have you worked at Shelter?
I am very new and have been working here for only two months.

⭐What's the best thing about working in your shop?
Well, I am a personal stylist, so the best thing for me is being surrounded by clothes 😅 Honestly, I just love looking at pieces that are getting donated and imagining how I could style them. I think buying at charity shops is a great way to look stylish at a fraction of the price and helping a good cause at the same time.

I love the fact that no two days are the same, the job is very varied and you can never get bored.

And of course, working alongside my manager Rebecca. She is just brilliant, as a manager and as a person.

⭐What's the most interesting thing you've sold or been donated?
St****er pump shoes 💅

⭐What's your favourite item you've bought in a charity shop?
I can’t think of a single item, but I always find high quality pieces. It’s like a treasure hunt!
