Creative block is real.
I have so many ideas floating around in my head that I end up feeling overwhelmed by where to start. Then I don’t start any of them. Then comes the guilt of not being productive enough… and the cycle repeats.
When I started making cakes over 10 years ago, it felt like everything took off overnight. Looking back, I know it didn’t. It took years of hard work, consistency and showing up, even when nobody was watching.
I think I’d forgotten how difficult it is to build something from scratch.
Starting a new creative business requires resilience. It means continuing to create and post even when the reach isn’t there. It means staying consistent when it’s easier to give up.
I have so much content sitting in my camera roll ready to be posted, but the overwhelm takes over. Social media is a whole job in itself. Creating the products, taking the photos, filming videos, editing content, writing captions, posting consistently… it can feel like a lot when you’re doing it all yourself.
It also requires support from family and friends. The kind of support that costs absolutely nothing. A simple like, comment or share can genuinely make a huge difference to a small business.
For the first 17 years of my life, I thought the only way I’d ever be successful was through academics. It turns out I just love creating. Whether that’s cakes, crafts, or whatever idea my brain comes up with next.
Made by Mac is something I really want to pursue, and I’m excited to see where it goes.
So if one of my posts pops up on your feed, I’d be so grateful if you could give it a little like, comment or share. It really does help more than you know.
And if there’s anything you’d like to see me make, I’m always open to suggestions.
Thank you for all the support so far.
