Today marks the start of , and this year’s theme is Take the Hedgehog Pledge - choosing simple ways to help the vulnerable, declining species thrive.
Led by the Hedgehog Preservation Society, the campaign highlights practical actions we can all take. One of the most effective is installing hedgehog highways, which allow hedgehogs to roam freely through our garden spaces. With habitats increasingly lost to new developments and roads, these highways help hedgehogs safely search for food, water and shelter.
To help raise awareness of the importance of highways, we’ve donated Hedgehog Highway's by Timloc Building Products to hedgehog charities and local communities, including councils and schools, in support of Hedgehog Awareness Week.
Hedgepigs and Hoglets Rescue in North Yorkshire was one of the first charities to receive a donation, supporting their new community conservation initiative – The Great Hedgehog Highway Project. This long-term project aims to connect every possible garden in Great Ayton.
Lucky Hedgehog Rescue, based in Hull, was the next charity to receive some of our highways. Stay tuned on our socials to see what they, and other recipients, have been up to.
