🌿 Hello Summer! 🌞

This Sunday marks the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year and the official start of summer 🌼 A great reminder to spend a little extra time enjoying (and caring for) our outdoor spaces. Our gardens play a vital role in supporting wildlife, and with Hedgehog Highway by Timloc Building Products, you can help hedgehogs roam safely between spaces in search of food, water and shelter 🦔

Here are a few simple ways to support hedgehogs this summer:
• 💧 Leave out fresh, shallow water during warm weather
• 🌿 Create wild areas for shelter and nesting
• 🍽️ Provide hedgehog-friendly food like meat-based cat or dog food
• 🚪 Create highways in fences and gates so they can travel freely
• ⚠️ Check long grass before mowing or strimming

🦔 Continuing the impact of Hedgehog Awareness Week

Hedgehog Highway by Timloc Building Products (part of the Alumasc Group plc) is proud to support Merton Hedgehog Rescue & rehabilitation's community-led initiative encouraging residents to create safer routes for hedgehogs.

During , we donated Hedgehog Highways to the rescue, helping build momentum behind a simple but highly effective idea: enabling local people to create 13cm openings in fences so hedgehogs can move freely between gardens.

With residents able to borrow a 13cm drill bit, the initiative is already seeing strong engagement and making it easier for households to take practical action for wildlife.

Continuing to support Hedgehog Awareness Week we donated 60 Yellow Hedgehog Highways to Lucky HedgeHog Rescue CIC. East Yorkshire right here in East Yorkshire 🦔💛

As part of the British Hedgehog Preservation Society’s “Take the Hedgehog Pledge” campaign, this initiative helps tackle one of the biggest challenges hedgehogs face - habitat fragmentation.

Hedgehog highways (small 13cm x 13cm holes in fences and walls) create vital connections between gardens, allowing hedgehogs to safely roam in search of food, water and shelter, reducing the need to venture onto dangerous roads.

Our Hedgehog Highway by Timloc Building Products frames these access points, helping protect them from being blocked while raising awareness within communities.

The highways have already been used in local outreach by Lucky Hedgehog Rescue CIC, helping create more hedgehog-friendly neighbourhoods across the region.

Today marks the start of , and this year’s theme is Take the Hedgehog Pledge - choosing simple ways to help the vulnerable, declining species thrive.

Led by the Hedgehog Preservation Society, the campaign highlights practical actions we can all take. One of the most effective is installing hedgehog highways, which allow hedgehogs to roam freely through our garden spaces. With habitats increasingly lost to new developments and roads, these highways help hedgehogs safely search for food, water and shelter.

To help raise awareness of the importance of highways, we’ve donated Hedgehog Highway's by Timloc Building Products to hedgehog charities and local communities, including councils and schools, in support of Hedgehog Awareness Week.

Hedgepigs and Hoglets Rescue in North Yorkshire was one of the first charities to receive a donation, supporting their new community conservation initiative – The Great Hedgehog Highway Project. This long-term project aims to connect every possible garden in Great Ayton.

Lucky Hedgehog Rescue, based in Hull, was the next charity to receive some of our highways. Stay tuned on our socials to see what they, and other recipients, have been up to.

🦔💚 We’re proud to support wildlife conservation in North Yorkshire!

Timloc Building Products has donated 120 Hedgehog Highways to Hedgepigs and Hoglets Rescue as part of their Great Hedgehog Highway Project, helping to connect gardens across Great Ayton and give hedgehogs safe pathways to roam in search for food, shelter and green spaces.
