Here's a used Yamaha Fg310 which a customer bought off market place for a really good deal. True to course it was virtually unplayable with a stupid high action and heavy strings. So I shaved down the bridge which allowed the bridge saddle to be reduced by about 3 millimetres. The result when combined with some 10 gauge bronze strings was an easy playing guitar perfectly suited for someone to learn on.

Here's a Harley Benton bass I've just worked on. Great finish and lovely neck but ...the factory set-up left a lot to be desired. It was essentially unplayable. Not a problem. I straightened the neck, shimed the neck pocket, added some fall away at the top end, seated the high frets, polished the tarnished frets and restrung it. Played fine but the pickups were now to far away from the strings and wouldn't go any higher so I added some foam under the pups plus cleaned out the crackling pots and cutting out jack plug. Job done. Plays and sounds great!

Just wanted to say that over the past few weeks the the Lime family have been absolutely knocked out multiple times by whatever nasty stuff has been going around. On the upside we are on the mend.

Here's a Tele that I've just sorted which had a slightly dodgy neck. It had a small bit of a back bow when the truss rod was fully slackened. And no it wasn't a two way one much the pity. Anyway I decided to level the frets just in the area which had a slight hump first then do a full light level and crown after that. It now plays fine which just goes to show that the straightness of a neck isn't always that important. It's how you deal with both the board and the frets.

And on the Lime recovery sofa today is this SpongeBob starter guitar. As per usual for most beginners guitar it was virtually unplayable with a stupidly high action, wonky frets and a load of other issues.
Luckily for its new 7 year old recipient it now plays the best it can after a good setup and a new set of strings.
Seriously though, most cheap beginners guitars are a bit s**t and can hinder a child's progress. Give me a call on 07718736112 and I'll get your kids guitar playing the best it can. Cheers, Marcus 👍
