Amazon floodplains cocoa offers a climate-resilient and sustainable chocolate

Protected and irrigated by the forest canopy of the floodplains, Elene’s cocoa is more resistant to pests like vassoura de bruxa, a fungus that devastated Brazilian crops in the 1980s, as well as climate change impacts like droughts and heavy rains.

It also offers a diverse range of earthy, fruity and acidic flavors, which Elene has utilized to produce an expanding range of artisanal cocoa and chocolate products. Smelling chocolate could make your leg day workout easier, even on an empty stomach

Smelling chocolate between sets at the gym pushed men to complete far more repetitions than they managed with no scent at all, a new study has found.

The men had not eaten for at least ten hours. Yet the boost showed up anyway, and it was strongest with dark chocolate. They did not feel like they were working any harder, even as their rep counts climbed...

As cocoa prices melt down, real chocolate is making a comeback

After a year of smaller bars, extra wafers and chocolate alternatives, at least one major chocolate maker ​is putting the cocoa back in — and others may follow suit — as a slump in bean prices since 2024 makes the traditional treat more profitable.
The shift — driven by ‌a near 70% slide in cocoa futures from late-2024 records — promises lower shelf prices for consumers, a demand recovery for cocoa farmers, and a partial reversal away from chocolate alternatives made with too little cocoa to qualify as chocolate.
