Marie Mighty Mims
I am a yarn enthusiast who is addicted to crocheting! I've been doing it for about 5 years on and off but I'm just starting to get to a place where I feel my style is coming through. I started crocheting when I was going through a particularly rough time in life and I found that it helped ease my anxiety and gave me something to focus on. I haven't stopped since! My life is massively influenced by music and I've recently been drawing more on that as an inspiration for my Creations and style. I don't really fit into the stereotypical picture of 'Crocheter/knitter' but I've recently come accross a community online that call themselves YARN PUNKS and its such a perfect description of who I am. 💜
Alongside crocheting I've also been developing an interest in herbalism and have begun dabbling with the craft of soap making and homemade self care remedies. There a lot to learn still but I'm really interested to see where it takes me. My mind wanders a lot and I love trying new things and different mediums so expect to see lots of other random crafts from me! Outside of crafts my world revolves largely around music and dance. I spend as much of my summer at festivals either helping out or just enjoying them. I love being immersed in a whole new magical world and take influence from these events for my art. One of my biggest passions is flow arts and Hula hooping and in hoping to have some workshops at the Barns when it's a bit warmer! A curly, knotty entanglement of crafty, quirky wonder! A Psychedelic collection of handmade bags, jewellery, clothes, dreamcatchers & windchimes! Yes, my life tends to be a curly, knotty entanglement of crafty and quirky wonder! As a self-confessed eccentric, I embrace colour and vibrancy in my daily life, through my creations or just observing the changing colours of the seasons and nature and integrating this into my daily life. I tend to want to push the boundaries on most facets of my life choices, but my passion remains the same, in helping others be the best they can be whether that’s through encouraging creative expression, counselling using the arts or through healing using crystals, herbs, botanicals, oils and Reiki. I’m no spring chicken and have survived many festivals, I'm well travelled and have been fortunate to experience many cultures. There’s plenty of life left in this old hippie witch!
