This is Reg, he who was not going to be allowed on the furniture or upstairs. Who we intended to treat like a dog not as the king of our family. Safe to say we failed on all counts 🤣

Last September we retired Ten Green Bottles, we had a great time & it was lovely meeting so many people, but we we decided it had had its day.

Fast forward 4 months after admitting we missed our Sunday markets we are going to do a new one this time for our animal friends.
If you are a local small buisness that sells pet / animal related products or services and are interested in a stall please contact us.
We are looking for anything from the ordinary to the quirky and everything in between.

Furniture painting / up cycling workshop.

Bring along an item of furniture & learn about correct preparation, colour choice, which paint to use & when.
We will take you through each stage step by step to enable you to become a confident painter.

The class is £50 which includes all materials, sandpaper, sugar soap, a tin of paint & an oval paint brush (the brush & the remainder of the paint will be yours to take home. Class held in Stanley Village Hall DE7 6FF
Saturday 27th January OR Saturday 24th February 11-3pm

Knowing when to quit is tricky. Too soon & you are left wondering what if, too late & you have wasted yours & other peoples valuable time.

Ten Green Bottles was born out of my love for all things Green & recycle ♻️ I wanted to create a community that could stop things going to landfill in a number of different way, plus I missed having a shop & the laughter, friendship & interaction that brought with it.

It quickly became apparent that the Green side of things wasn’t going to take off so it became a craft Fayre of sorts. It is fair to say that footfall has been a problem for some considerable time.
I roped in my good friend Alison Martin to help me try & build it up.

We came up with trying a new venue. Last Saturday we held a market in Kilburn village hall. We advertised heavily on social media & with posters. I think it’s a fair assessment to say it wasn’t well attended.

We had a full hall of lovely stalls but few customers. There are only so many excuses you can come up with it’s raining, too cold, it’s Poppy Day, there is something else happening.

One thing we both realised after Saturday was it’s stopped being fun, there was no laughter no friendships made (no money made) just a hall full of unhappy people who could think of 101 other things they would rather be doing.

The time has come to say goodbye to Ten Green Bottles. Thank you to all the friends we have made & the stall holders & customers.

There will be no more events & anyone who has paid for a future stall will of course get a full refund.

Alison at Accustom with still be continuing with her business so please say hello to her & support her whenever you can.

Thank you to everyone who supported, helped or just brightened our day. 💚

Warning, it's one of my long posts 😂

I know we have been a bit quiet on here recently.
To be honest we have been thinking about what to do next. It's fair to say footfall has been a bit hit & miss the last few markets. I find it very hard to watch people set up their stalls & not get the customers they deserve. As one of the organisers I feel like I have let the sellers down if it isn't a roaring success. I also understand that people are nervous about the current financial climate and are reluctant to spend....I get it. However unless we continue to try & support small businesses, in whatever way we can then the sad fact is they aren't going to be here in 12 - 18 months when we are ready to spend again.
Maybe you can buy a birthday present from a crafter rather than ordering on Amazon or perhaps you have a wardrobe full of clothes you don't wear that you want to sell for a bit of extra cash.....sooooo bearing in mind all the above we have decided to carry on & just go all out to make Ten Green Bottles the best it can be, for the sellers, the buyers & the community.

To mix it up a bit we are going to change the venue & date in September Instead of it being on Sunday 17th September at West Hallam Community Centre we are going to Kilburn Village Hall DE56 OLU on Saturday 16th September. I'm hoping everyone who has booked for the Sunday is able to transfer to the new venue on the Saturday ( I will be contacting you all by email to confirm or refund your stall fee if you can't attend)

Then we will be back at West Hallam Community Centre on 22nd October with some new ideas & stalls.

Apologies to the people who came along to Ten Green Bottles on Sunday only to find it wasn’t happening.
I had done a post for Facebook saying we had to cancel, however for some reason it had become a pinned post & wasn’t available for people to see. I have no idea how I managed to do that. 🤷‍♀️

I’m really sorry & please watch this space for future events (I promise no more pinned posts) we are making a few changes to make it better and providing much needed support to small local businesses.
