Hidden beneath the moors at Ribblehead, Middle Scar Cave spent years sealed off after its entrance collapsed. It's only reopened in the last few years, and not many have heard of it.

Gareth Williams and the team from Kendal Caving Club took a camera inside. Grand passages, deep water, formations that took millions of years to grow, and a bit of genuine Yorkshire cave character. Quiet, serious, and properly special.

This one's for the connoisseurs.

That was some Bank Holiday. ☀️

34.8°C at Kew Gardens on Monday, provisionally the highest spring temperature ever recorded in the UK, and the hottest May day since records began. Whether you caught the heat in the Dales or watched it from the office window, it was hard to ignore. 🥵

Sunday at Watlowes felt a little gentler than Monday's furnace: still warm, still beautiful. This dry valley north of Malham Cove is super quiet. Stand there long enough and you start picturing the waterfall that carved it: a colossal, roaring curtain of water pouring over the limestone edge where Malham Cove now sits silent. The water's long gone, but the scale of what it left behind is something else.

The Dales was pretty bustling. If you were out in the sun, we hope you took care: SPF, a hat, water in your pack. Heat exhaustion is no joke on exposed ground with no shade for miles.

It nearly didn't happen.

Torrential overnight rain made the route unclimbable when the team arrived at Gaping Gill. They waited. Water levels dropped. Steve McClure and Molly Thompson-Smith completed the trad climb of GG Rider in under five hours.

These are the official first-release images from the Inside the Mountain documentary, shared with us by director Jack Homan. Five camera positions. Twelve hours underground across two days of filming.

We donated rope to this project. Our Todd was on the safety team. Proud to have played a small part.

Please keep sharing. This one deserves a wide audience. 👍

Incredible bit of history has been uncovered! Scientists have identified the oldest known human remains in Northern Britain, found in Heaning Wood Bone Cave over in Cumbria.

DNA analysis has revealed the remains belong to a three-year-old girl who lived 11,000 years ago, just after the last Ice Age. Locally, she’s been named the "Ossick Lass." Nearby jewelry suggests this cave was a deeply spiritual place for Britain's earliest hunter-gatherers. 🤯

It’s mind-blowing to think about who was exploring these underground systems thousands of years before us.

What’s the most fascinating thing you’ve ever come across while exploring a cave? Let us know in the comments. 👍

If as a climber, caver, you sometimes work on the ropes, give this a look.

35 UK workers were killed by a fall from height last year. That's nearly one every ten days, and 28% of every workplace death in the country.

No Falls Week runs from today to 22 May. If it lands with you, share it on. That's the ask. 👍
