St Ronan’s Wells Garden

St Ronan’s Wells Garden St. Ronan’s Wells is an attractive community garden situated in Innerleithen on the hillside overlooking the Tweed Valley Always need a bit more help!

The garden is currently only open to volunteer gardeners and the public. If you wish to explore joining the gardening team please notify me. Plants are for sale and you can come and buy them either on a Thursday when we are there or at the Allotment shop on the high street in Innerleithen . We will start having our Saturday open days in spring. Usually we open 2nd Saturday of the month for a bit of fun and plant sales. Bring a picnic and join in.

£1.3 million

That’s what it cost to build the Tweed Valley Railway Path from Peebles to Walkerburn, completed in two stages in 2013 and 2019. I’d argue it’s the single most transformative investment in our area in my lifetime, thus far.

Every day you’ll see cyclists, dog walkers, long distance hikers, commuters, wheelchair users, runners, families and visitors all moving safely along a route protected from the dangers of motor traffic.

£1.3 million might sound like a lot to us as individuals, but I believe this path has repaid itself many times over. In public health and in elevating the Tweed Valley as a great place to live and visit. Plus that intangible thing that surely we all look for - joy!

A bargain, really, and a model for the kind of routes we should be opening more and more of across the country.

We are looking for a volunteer to take care of our compost heaps! We build on them every week and that needs a bit of supervision to ensure the right mix. They also need turned a couple of times a year. No previous experience necessary and you can learn on the job! Great bunch of volunteers just waiting to be your friends! We meet every Thursday and the first Saturday of every month. 11 til 2.30
