✨ The 100 Mile Shop ✨
You may notice things looking a little different in the Farm Shop over the coming weeks… and that’s because we’re making a rather bold (and very exciting) change.
We’re becoming a **100 mile shop**.
But what does that actually mean?
The idea is simple: everything on our food shelves will be grown, reared, caught or made within 100 miles of Sillyflatt (with the one small exception of our beloved Mossgiel milk 🥛).
For a long time, we’ve tried to create a “whole basket” experience — sourcing beautiful, ethical and delicious produce from near and far. And while that has brought so many incredible products into the shop, it has also come with its challenges…
Higher quality and smaller-scale production often means higher prices, and we know that doing a full shop like this isn’t always accessible. And in a small space, too much choice can become overwhelming — for you and for us.
So we’re returning to what sits at the very heart of everything we do:
🌿 supporting local
🌿 celebrating seasonality
🌿 connecting people to food and land
By focusing solely on what’s around us, we can truly showcase the richness of our local food landscape — the makers, the growers, the stories, and the seasons.
Yes, it does mean saying goodbye to some favourites (and we’ll miss them too 💛), but it also makes space for something deeper:
A slower, more meaningful way of shopping, cooking and eating.
Sometimes less choice brings more creativity… and more joy.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be gently reshaping the shop — sharing more about each product, the people behind it, and how to enjoy it at its best.
Our non-food range will stay just as it is — wool, books, vintage Barbour, Harris Tweed and more — it’s just the food that’s evolving.
We hope you’ll enjoy this new experience with us:
For your everyday suppers, seasonal fruit & veg, special gatherings, or thoughtful food gifts (because truly… food is one of the best gifts there is 🍯🧀).
It’s a big change — but a positive one.
If you’re curious about embracing the 100 mile way of eating we will be next sharing more about those who have done just that, and introducing the term locavore into your everyday. Keep with us on this exciting new journey!
