From one of Scotland’s most innovative young distilleries comes another exciting release. 🌊🥃

The Isle of Raasay Hungarian Oak Limited Release is the third expression in the distillery’s Oak Species Maturation Series, exploring the influence of different oak species on their signature island spirit. This release is matured in seasoned ex-Oloroso sherry barriques made from Hungarian Quercus petraea oak from the Zemplén Mountains.

Crafted from both peated and unpeated spirit made with 100% Scottish barley, and bottled at 50% ABV, natural colour and non-chill filtered, this limited release offers remarkable depth and balance, with layers of spice, sweetness and smoke.

Expect notes of orange peel, roasted hazelnut, cinnamon and sponge cake on the nose, followed by ginger, coffee, sherry and dark chocolate on the palate, finishing with lingering sweet orange, warming spice and smoky bacon.

With an outturn of just 8,000 bottles worldwide, this is a fascinating release for fans of innovative cask maturation and distinctive island whisky.

A beautiful limited-edition Highland single malt from one of our local distilleries, Glen Ord Distillery in Muir of Ord.

Part of the 2024 Special Releases collection, “Autumn Walk” is a 14-year-old expression with a vibrant, elegant character. Matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks and part-finished with the influence of Pyrenean and Spanish oak cask ends, it brings together orchard fruits, gentle spice, vanilla, toffee and a fresh, grassy lift.

We’re looking for a friendly, reliable and hard-working Part-Time Sales Advisor to join our team this season at Highland Whisky Shop in Inverness.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys meeting people, providing excellent customer service and has an interest in whisky, gin and other spirits. Whisky knowledge is a plus, but not essential as we offer ongoing internal training and whisky tasting sessions to help our team build their knowledge.

The role includes:

🥃 Helping customers choose the perfect bottle of whisky, gin or other premium spirits
🛍️ Operating the till and handling sales
📦 Stock handling, restocking shelves and organising displays
🎁 Packaging in-store purchases and online orders
✨ Keeping the shop clean, tidy and welcoming

Matured in a mix of sherry and bourbon casks, this lightly peated whisky was created to be enjoyed by a Hebridean fireside. A special window for a special local distillery. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🥃

Last month, our window display celebrated GlenWyvis Distillery and their latest release “The Baineach”, a limited edition Highland single malt from Scotland’s first 100% community-owned distillery.

With an outturn of just 1,500 bottles, this special release was matured in a combination of Ruby Port barriques and Oloroso sherry hogsheads, creating a rich and characterful dram.

Expect milk chocolate, toffee and beeswax on the nose, followed by a sweet, oily palate with prunes and ripe pear, leading into dark chocolate on the finish. Delicious! 🥃

It was a pleasure to showcase such a brilliant local release here at Highland Whisky Shop. 🙌🏻
