When you contact us about a phone or tablet repair, one of the first questions we ask isn’t, “When can you bring it to us?”
It’s, “What would make this easiest for you?”
That might mean collecting your phone from work and returning it to your home. It could be an evening repair, a weekend appointment or arranging everything through messages because phone calls aren’t your thing.

There isn’t one right way to get a device repaired, so we don’t expect every customer to fit into the same routine. Tell us what works for you and, wherever we can, we’ll work around it.

That’s what being a small, local business should be about.

A quick Friday question…

What’s the strangest place you’ve ever dropped your phone?
Down the toilet? Into your dinner? From on top of your moving car? We’ve heard some brilliant ones over the years, so no judgement here. 😂

Let’s see who can claim The Gadget Refuge’s most unfortunate phone drop…
don’t forget, however your break your phone, one message to us and you’re on the way to getting it fixed👍

Got an iPhone in a family full of Android users?

Here’s another little iOS 27 change you might actually find useful.
Apple has made Shared Albums much friendlier for people who don’t have an Apple device. Friends and family on Android or Windows can now open an album through the web and add their own photos, they don’t even need an Apple Account.

Want to try it? Here’s how…

Open Photos → Collections → Shared Albums, tap + to create a new album, add your photos and give it a name. Then tap Sharing Options and you can choose who gets access or select Anyone with the Link. Send that link to whoever you want to share the album with and they can open it from their phone or computer.

If you already have an older Shared Album, open it, tap the More (…) button → Upgrade Shared Album and follow the instructions to get the new features.
There are a few other improvements too, including full-resolution sharing, emoji reactions and better ways to filter your photos.

Possibly not the most exciting update Apple has ever announced 😂 …but for families trying to collect everyone’s holiday, wedding or grandkid photos in one place, this could actually be really handy.

There are apparently two types of broken phone screen. The one that only just happened and the one that happened 7 months ago that you’ve become so used to, you now automatically move your thumb around the crack 😂

We see a surprising amount of the second type and honestly, there’s no judgement here. We’re actually quite impressed by the commitment!

So if you’ve finally decided you’ve had enough of navigating your phone like an obstacle course, give us a shout 👍
You can give us a call on 01463 832492 or send us a message, it’s up to you!

Got a Google Pixel? This is one update we wouldn’t leave sitting there.

Google has fixed a security vulnerability in its latest Pixel update that it says has shown signs of being used in limited, targeted attacks.
There’s no need to panic, this isn’t being described as something affecting Pixel users on a huge scale, but it is a good reason to make sure your phone is up to date.

Have a quick look in Settings → System → Software updates and install anything that’s waiting.

Two minutes well spent. 👍
