Vee Walker popped in yesterday to pick up books for her own personal reading and sign copies of her two books, The Glen Nevis Rose and Major Tom's War. Signed copies develop a bit of magic and sales always rise when customers discover that precious signature. Telling them the author has been into our bookshop to do the signing elicits gasps of amazement. Yesterday one customer, who had never owned a signed copy of a book, was positively fizzing with excitement as she hugged a copy. It's a wonderful and memorable thing to see.

Welcoming authors back to our bookshop to sign another haul of their books is rather exciting! Helen Forbes, Author got busy with her 'Queen of Grime' crime series which is set in Edinburgh and introduces us to Erin Flett, a crime and trauma scene cleaner. It's an original idea which Helen develops very effectively to send shivers down her readers' spine. Nowhere is safe, especially your own home!

What a treat to welcome Philip Paris back to our bookshop! We set Philip hard to work signing copies of the new paperback edition of his Covenanting story 'A Fire in their Hearts' plus lots of copies of his bestseller 'The Last Witch of Scotland'. And Philip posed for photos with some very lucky American customers who got an impromptu Scottish history lesson on Covenanters in the 17th century and the last ex*****on for witchcraft on Scottish soil in the 18th century. What a star!

Our Tartan Carpet is hosting another fabulous new book by local writer Duncan Bolam. 'The Answer' is a meaning of life book which will set you thinking about personal experiences and your reactions to them in an entirely different way. Love is at its core - love for self and love for community, helping the reader to negotiate the inevitable ups and downs of life in a more positive, creative way.

It's always exciting to support new, local ventures such as the educational and fun 'Incredible Inverness' history and colouring books Morag & Hamish and this gives us a perfect opportunity to highlight some of our other children's books, including our very own 'Wee MacNessie' stories. We also know how popular graphic novels are so have dipped our toe into the water with a small selection.
