🍂 Create Autumn Journal Pages — workshop this Friday

Autumn might just be my favourite season for creative journaling.

Rusty oranges, deep browns, old book pages, leaves, little scraps of paper, paint, stamps and all those lovely layers that somehow look even better when they’re a bit imperfect.

These are a few of my own autumn journal pages from previous years — and they give you an idea of the sort of things we’ll be playing with at the studio this Friday.

You won’t be copying one particular design. I’ll show you different ways to build up a page using colour, collage, stencils, paper and simple mark-making, then you can take it entirely in your own direction.

And you absolutely do not need to be able to draw, think of yourself as artistic or even own a journal (one will be provided). Creative journaling is much more about experimenting, layering and enjoying the process.

A little update to this week’s opening hours.

The shop will be closed on Monday and Tuesday while I spend some long overdue time with my lovely Mum in Wales, reopening on Wednesday.

On Thursday afternoon, the studio will be closed for an exciting filming session, and on Friday afternoon we’ll be closed for our journal collage cluster workshop from 2.30pm until 5pm. There are still spaces available if you are interested.

I’m using my time in Wales to prepare all the filming and workshop materials, ready for a rather special week at Harriet Bloom.

Thank you for your understanding, and I look forward to welcoming you back into the Creative Apothecary soon.

An impromptu serenade at Harriet Bloom! 🤭🎶

You never quite know what the day will bring here at the studio… but I certainly wasn’t expecting a private performance! Such a joyful, unexpected moment—and one that had me smiling for the rest of the day.

Creativity comes in many forms, and apparently, sometimes it simply walks through the door and bursts into song! 💛

If I had a pound for every time someone said that before a workshop… 😊

Creative Journaling for Beginners is especially for you if you love the idea of keeping a creative journal but have absolutely no idea where to begin.

And here’s the important bit: you don’t need to be able to draw. You don’t need beautiful handwriting. And there are no rules.

We’ll explore layering papers, images, colour, texture and simple mixed-media techniques to begin creating journal pages that feel completely your own.
