We were delighted to support Friends of Park Wood at Keighley Show last weekend by sponsoring their stand! 🎪

Friends of Park Wood is a group of locals who help maintain and improve the wood for everyone to enjoy 🌳

Our sponsorship helped them raise funds and connect with new volunteers, and it was great to see our competition box and sign featured on their stand.

Our new team member, Andy, is also a volunteer with Friends of Park Wood and was there supporting the group, proudly representing J Wood Leathers in his work uniform! 👋

We hope plenty of visitors managed to enter the free prize draw 🎁 We’ll be announcing the winner of the hand-stitching starter kit soon, so keep an eye out!

A big thank you to the Friends of Park Wood team for putting on such a great stand and for sending us these photos. We’re so pleased we could play a small part in supporting such a worthwhile local group.

If you are interested in supporting the group, they are always looking for new volunteers to get involved, no experience is necessary!

New Special Feature Blog - National Leathercraft Day: Meet The Makers ✨

Leathercraft is about more than the finished piece. It’s about creativity, patience, experimentation and finding your own way of working with the material.

To celebrate National Leathercraft Day, we shone a spotlight on five talented makers from the J. Wood Leathers community and the incredible work they create with leather.

MEET THE MAKERS:

George Butterworth – Leatherkraft

Ben Hollings – The Anvil Workshop - Instagram

Rory – Tiger’s Armoury - Instagram .armoury

Nathan – Kiki the Miata - Instagram

Brian – Modern Woolfare - Instagram

From specialist snooker pockets and traditional hand tooling to film & TV leatherwork, custom automotive interiors and bespoke bags, their work shows just how many ways there are to work with leather.

We’ve spoken to each maker about their journey, their projects, the skills they’ve developed and what inspires their work.

A letter we received this week from one of our customers 🙌

Back in September, we welcomed a customer to our workshop who selected a few hides to use for upholstering a couple of chairs. We recently received a letter sharing how the project went, along with some photos of the finished pieces.

A special mention to Amy, who helped during his visit and received many thanks for her knowledge and assistance.

We always really appreciate our customers taking the time to share their work with us, and absolutely love seeing the ways our leather is used!

Meet Darren, our new Warehouse Manager! 👋

He is the driving force behind J Wood Leathers' warehouse operations, keeping everything organised, efficient, and running smoothly day in and day out.

Outside of work, Darren is a huge football fan, but most of his free time is spent supporting his two kids in their hobbies and activities – something he happily admits has become his own main hobby.

We're delighted to have Darren on the team!
