That’s been quite a couple of weeks for the Yorkshire Sound Service team!

In the last 18 days we have covered 24 events, ranging from small village agricultural shows to The Tour Of Britain, Scone Palace International Horse Trials, Moreton Show, Kilnsey Show and many others.

It has been an intense time, with 11 staff members working very hard on site, on the road and in the depot and office. It’s fair to say that we are all ready for a rest!

Despite the logistical challenges, lack of sleep and thousands of miles covered, all events have received our A⭐️ service. It’s fair to say, wherever we go and whatever we do, our service level is exemplary. We’ve had some great customer feedback too, which makes it all more worthwhile.

From me on a personal note, thank you to the whole team for your hard work and resilience. It’s been a testing few weeks but some respite is on the horizon!

Resplendent Ripley Show

Ripley Show marks the start of an extensive run of agricultural shows for the YSS team. Held last Sunday, on the same day we also attended trawdenshow, Ripley didn’t fail to disappoint and the crowds flocked in to see, experience and do.

YSS will attend no fewer than 18 agricultural shows in the next 3 weeks across Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cumbria, County Durham and Gloucestershire providing;

Friday evening fact: Our fleet has 126 wheels and tyres!

Between 14 commentary boxes, 2 trucks, 1 van, 3 four wheel drives, 5 generators, 2 loudspeaker towers and one box trailer, that’s a lot of maintenance!

Have you ever wondered what we really do? Behind the scenes of some of the biggest events, where we provided delicate, technical equipment, there is always a story of hard, physical work.

In the last 3 weeks, we have supplied sound and communications, AV systems, generator power and distribution and event WiFi to 16 different events.

Every event starts with planning, then loading the vans and trucks. Next comes transport, hours on the road and hundreds of miles covered. Then comes the rigging phase, sometimes quick and easy, sometimes heavy and time consuming.

Our team certainly have diverse work to do, from swinging a sledge hammer for 8 hours a day, to tuning digital radio microphones, running heavy copper cable to configuring wireless networks.

As for the picture, we have driven 164 of these poles into the ground in the last three weeks. Then attached loudspeakers to them. Then taken them down and driven to another field to do it all again!

Life on the road with YSS is hard work!

A very happy belated birthday to Jack, third generation Parsons in the Yorkshire Sound Service world, who spent his birthday at Burgham International Horse Trials over the weekend.

Thanks for all your hard work, Jack! Now just hurry up a few years so you can drive the trucks 🚛💨

Silly things we do when bored 😬

The dressage sheets were blowing away at Bishop Burton Equine Centre, so I asked the TD if I could use this brick as a paperweight. She said yes, FEI approved status was recorded on said brick and it was put straight to work!
