A Wonderful Weekend of Creativity at Wonky Giraffe
What a truly special three days we enjoyed at Wonky Giraffe in Kelso as we hosted the sold-out Bryony Rose Jennings Textile Fox Sculpture Workshop.
Over Friday, Saturday and Sunday, nine talented and enthusiastic participants joined renowned textile sculptor Bryony Rose Jennings for an immersive creative experience, learning her unique techniques and bringing their own beautiful fox sculptures to life. From the very first armature to the final finishing touches, it was inspiring to watch each fox develop its own distinct character and personality under Bryony's expert guidance.

The workshop was filled with creativity, conversation, laughter and plenty of concentration as everyone embraced the challenge of working on such an ambitious and rewarding project. Bryony's generosity in sharing her knowledge, encouragement and expertise made the experience both enjoyable and incredibly informative for all involved.

Throughout Friday and Saturday, Louise and the Wonky Giraffe team continued to keep the shop open, welcoming customers while also ensuring our workshop participants were looked after exceptionally well. As part of the workshop experience, guests enjoyed delicious lunches each day, lovingly prepared with a selection of homemade treats, alongside morning and afternoon coffee breaks complete with sweet indulgences to keep creative energy levels topped up.

By Sunday afternoon, the workshop space was filled with an impressive ’Skulk’ of finished foxes, each one completely unique and a testament to the dedication, skill and creativity of their makers.
The sense of achievement and pride throughout the room was wonderful to see.

A huge thank you goes to Bryony for sharing her talent and passion with us, and to all nine participants who helped create such a friendly, supportive and inspiring atmosphere over the weekend. We hope you enjoyed every moment and are delighted with your finished sculptures.

Workshops like this are exactly why we love bringing creative people together at Wonky Giraffe, and this unforgettable weekend will certainly be remembered for a long time to come.

What a lovely day we had at The Wonky Giraffe! 🦒🧵
We were delighted to welcome a bus full of wonderful ladies from Canada, travelling with Quilt Tours International during their visit to Kelso.

It was fantastic to meet so many fellow quilting enthusiasts and share our love of all things fabric, stitching, and creativity.

As an extra special part of their visit, everyone had the chance to add a stitch to the latest tapestry project at Susie Finlayson Embroidery.
This amazing piece will eventually be displayed at Edinburgh Waverley Station, so our visitors have left their own little mark on a very special Scottish artwork.

We can honestly say we enjoyed having them here just as much as they enjoyed their visit with us.

You may remember back in April I told you that our lovely website was under construction... 🥳

Well, to allow the team to finish making the changes needed, it is temporarily down for the foreseeable. There's only so much that could have happened behind the scenes before this point, so please bear with us whilst we complete the changes and add the final touches.

What are you doing this Friday/Saturday!?

If you don't have plans, why not pop along to the Borders Modern Quilt Guild Exhibition in Selkirk?! Come along for a blether, see some gorgeous quilts and have a cuppa from The Haining Café!

I'm absolutely delighted to be attending with a stall this year; I'll have lots of lovely goodies for sale and can't wait to see some returning customers, and hopefully meet some new faces too!

It's sure to be a brilliant, inspiring weekend and isn't to be missed!

Tomorrow, the brilliant Louise Harrison will be at The Wonky Giraffe from 11.30am. ⏰️

Louise is a Sales Educator for Pfaff who is coming to demonstrate and discuss any queries and questions you have about any of the Pfaff sewing machines and overlockers. This is an entirely free opportunity and will include demonstrations and chats around the two latest models (the 715 and then 725). There's no need to book, as it's simply a drop in session that will allow you to work around your normal Thursday!
