As the festival of our neighbouring town, Jedburgh comes to an end and Kelso Civic week springs into action, we thought we’d share our love for the Jethart Snail! A classic, hard-boiled peppermint sweet rolled into an iconic snail shape.
Did you know the recipe for Jethart Snails dates back to the Napoleonic Wars? It was reportedly shared by a French prisoner of war as a thank you to the local Millar family who showed him kindness. More than a century later, this peppermint delicacy remains a beloved local favourite and the secret recipe has been passed on and is now in the safe hands of the Wylie family.
Whether you're treating yourself or looking for the perfect nostalgic gift, we sell Jethart Snails in both bags and tins.
