Beast of a Heavy (circular) Gift Bouquet Balancing on Her Own Feet! What you can’t see is the tall Edwardian tiered cake stand acting as a rickety pedestal under the striped tablecloth. Why do I revel in this sort of kamikaze behaviour, I don’t know! The relief when you finally get heavy and thick stems like the 5 massive sunflowers or the 6 huge Chrysanthemums and the Amaranthus and Gladioli bound along with all the soft and delicate calendula, mallow, fragile gypsophila… and then instead of just getting it into water asap (that’s always another battle) I go - I know!! I’ll just set this on here and test all levels of gravity and balance and antique afternoon tea furniture longevity, and, actually, I’ll just leave the room and get that crepe wrapping paper that’s upstairs. This is living on the edge for a flower farmer florist. Well, technically it’s living perfectly balanced on the MIDDLE. Because thankfully it was still there waiting after I’d done a tour of the house. 😅👌🏻 Then after it’s attached to water and all wrapped up pretty you have to deliver it in one piece - thankfully I’m now wise to the dangers of exiting blind road-ends and junctions quickly to avoid lorries and this pretty beast bouquet arrived safe, bouncy and beautiful.

FLOUER’s FLOWER-HARVEST TRUG WORKSHOP. Spend a lovely Friday evening, unwinding after a busy week, creating your own version of our dried, flower-harvest trug arrangement.

Bring your friends, snacks and refreshments (soft or alcoholic) - to start your weekend right!

You’ll be able to choose from a wide variety of flowers, foliage and seedheads - all dried by myself - in varying colours to match your preference and home decor. I’ll teach you how to dry your own flowers, foliage and seedheads from your garden and even how you can use many of these dried flowers and seed heads as a source of seeds for the following spring to late summer to start the cycle all over again.

This is a way to preserve flowers throughout the hot summer months and enjoy them through autumn & winter and then use them to refresh and regenerate your flower beds or pots the following year.

(And, as the trug is lined - you can even change things up and use it later for an Easter Egg basket or a planted spring to summer arrangement.)

Sweet Creeping Thistle. Smells divine. The butterflies, bees, hover-flies, ladybirds … agree. I’ve been cutting some surprise treats for tomorrow’s Kelso Farmer’s Market bouquets and had to stop a smell the pretty little lilac thistles.

Nightmare or Beautiful…? These thistle seeds will be flying free today in the wind. But sometimes you just have to step back and let nature have its space. These long grasses, docks & thistles, bearded irises and more are providing protection and homes to many creatures and the irises can wait until the autumn when the weeds will die-back and I can extract them - maybe not all of them this autumn as I have hundreds of varieties and it’s actually 8 borders… Oops. 🌾🌾🌾🌾🤷‍♀️🌾🌾🌾🌾
