Thinking about fitting your own LVT flooring?
If you’re planning on doing it yourself, you’ve probably come across click LVT. It’s often marketed as “easy to fit” and “can be laid over almost any floor”… but in our experience, it isn’t always that simple.
Here are a few things to think about before you buy:
❌ Click LVT still needs a flat, level subfloor. Any bumps or dips can lead to movement, gaps or damaged joints.
❌ If one plank becomes damaged, it can be much harder to replace without lifting a larger section of the floor.
❌ It doesn’t always give the same solid, premium feel underfoot as a professionally installed dryback LVT.
At Bay Carpets, we’d choose dryback (stick-down) LVT every time. It takes more preparation and skill to install, but the end result is stronger, longer lasting and gives a much better finish.
