Cherrydidi

Cherrydidi We're also home to the much loved 'Zak the Collie Dog' ethical brand. We moved to Keswick in 2014 and opened a second shop in Ambleside in 2018.

After 11 successful years running gift shops on the Lake District high streets, you'll now find the very best ethical and sustainable gifts and art on the Cherrydidi Online Gift Shop. Cherrydidi is the brainchild of Jean and Ade Harmer, building on Jean's background in social enterprise: including running an eco-travel business in Nepal and supporting women to get a start in selling their own home

made products. Through delivering business start-up programmes in rural Cumbria, Ghana and India a project called 'Trade in Action' brought five Cumbrian and five Ghanaian small creative businesses together, from this Cherrydidi was born.

'Didi' is a term of respectfulness given to older women in Nepal. 'Cherry' was chosen after a gift of cherries from Ade to Jean. The first Cherrydidi shop opened in Priest's Mill, Caldbeck, in 2012, with a focus on helping artists and makers from across Cumbria and beyond, to start up their own businesses and grow sustainable careers, with their brilliant and individual talents at the centre. We remain proud to provide beautiful and ethically-minded products to customers old and new. We use local, British supply chains wherever possible, and we support our artists to do the same. We use recycled materials for our in-house products, and our packaging. We continue to champion start-up arts and crafts businesses, offering them not only a space to sell their work, but also commercial wisdom and support. We want our customers to see something completely different. We want to present new ways to be kind. If you like what you see, follow us on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Cherrydidi is also home to the one and only Zak the Collie Dog, plus Jesse Dog and Jack the Lad!

Kindness - the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate…. And one of Mrs H’s 2025 resolutions. At Christmas time my heart melted when I opened an envelope addressed to me from under the tree… I found the most beautiful gift inside. Zak the Collie Dog drawn in pastels, it took my br...

Twelve days of no phone, yes 12 days, which meant 12 days of no internet too and no mobile phone (as we WiFi call only)! What a 12 days! Could yo...

Jack’s been feeling sorry for himself, he’s been off colour for some time. 10 days ago, he had his canine tooth and two lumps on his legs removed. Of course we thought the worst with what happened to his Dad, our lovely Zak. Turns out the tooth had an abscess high up at the root so he’ll have ...

I said I'll tell you all about POP-UP @ The Boat House in my next blog so ta da... I have always admired entrepreneurs and the risks they are willing to take to make something work - I see myself as one although keeping below the radar at the moment - too many people don't give entrepreneurs enough....

It's been an interesting week without social media, I'll be honest it hasn't been easy but I'm finding I have a lot more time to do constructive things and therefore have achieved a lot more than I usually do, that's definitely a positive. I have felt a little disconnected but I'll get through that,...
