9 carat gold with hallmarks for Birmingham 1936
1 1/2" high including suspension loop by 9/10"across.
Likely a piping prize for which gold medals have been awarded at the games since 1908.

Attractive inlays and period design.
Label for P.E Gane of Bristol, a business associated with the designer Marcel Breuer.
The long established 19thC firm started by Henry Trapnell , under the control of Philip Gane in the first part of the 20thC became well known for up to date art nouveau and and art deco/modernist furniture.

Signed A.D. Muir 1875-1951, born in Hawick and later Edinburgh based.
Anne Davidson Muir was a well regarded Scottish painter best known for portraits and floral works.
