20 years of Not On The High Street 💜

On Friday we headed to Birmingham to celebrate a pretty special milestone: 20 years of NOTHS, alongside some of the utterly brilliant small businesses that make it what it is.

The day also included the Small Brand Awards, and while we didn’t take home Partner of the Year this time, being one of just three businesses shortlisted from more than 5,000 partners felt pretty special in itself. After 13 years of selling on NOTHS, we’re incredibly proud to have made the cut.

A huge congratulations to every winner and nominee, and to all the fabulous small businesses we got to spend the day with. There is SO much talent in one community. 💜

The brilliant Sara Davies hosted the awards and we also got the chance to chat to her properly about JOY, where we’re heading and a few ideas for what might come next. She was every bit as lovely, down to earth and inspiring as you’d hope… and we definitely came away with our heads buzzing.

There was a real feeling in the room that something very exciting is ahead for NOTHS. We’re incredibly grateful to have been part of the story for the last 13 years and even more excited to be part of this next chapter.

20 years down. Here’s to what comes next. 💜

We’re incredibly proud to be finalists in the Apprentice of the Year category at this year’s Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce Business Awards! ✨

And, of course, especially proud of our very own Katie for making it to the final. 💛

It feels particularly special to see an apprentice from our industry recognised alongside apprentices from more traditionally represented sectors.

Katie is a Graduate Apprentice, which means that alongside working with us at JOY, she’s studying towards a degree in Business Management. While university gives her the academic side, her time at JOY gives her the opportunity to put that learning into practice every day, gaining real, hands-on experience of running and growing a business.

And that’s very much a team effort. 💛 Katie is supported by Team JOY along the way, sharing their knowledge and experience and giving her the opportunity to learn about all the different moving parts that keep a busy small business going.

Next up is Katie’s presentation and interview with the judging panel, so we’ll all be behind her and wishing her lots of luck. 🤞✨

Whatever happens next, getting to the final is something for Katie and Team JOY to be very proud of.

Some exciting news to share… 💜

We’re absolutely thrilled that JOY by Corrine Smith has been shortlisted for Partner of the Year in this year’s Not On The High Street Brand Awards.

Having proudly partnered with Not On The High Street since 2013, this recognition means so much to us. After winning Designer of the Year in 2024, we’re honoured to be shortlisted again, this time celebrating the partnership we’ve built over more than a decade.

This nomination is a reflection of our amazing Team JOY, whose creativity, dedication and commitment to looking after our customers shine through every single day.

It’s also an especially exciting time to be part of the Not On The High Street community. With Sara Davies MBE joining the business as an investor and Brand Ambassador, championing independent businesses and hosting this year’s Small Brand Awards, there’s a real sense of optimism about the future. We’re genuinely excited to see what’s next and to continue our journey with the team at NOTHS.

8 years ago today we got the keys to what would become JOY HQ ✨

Before this, we’d spent years working from rented, cramped office spaces. Packing orders in tiny corners. Designing jewellery anywhere we could fit a desk. Constantly dreaming about having a space that actually felt like ours.

And then… this happened.

A building with good light, big windows, an overgrown garden and absolutely no guarantee any of it would work 😂

Since then this space has seen thousands of designs, huge highs, difficult seasons, packing tables covered in orders, laughter, stress, creativity, growth… and versions of us we hadn’t met yet.

No business plan can fully prepare you for what it actually takes to build something from scratch. The chaos. The risk. The becoming.

But sometimes the best things in life really do start with a tiny bit of belief, absolute determination… and a set of keys 💖

What really makes a workplace is the people in it.

The ones who make you look forward to each day. The ones who bring energy, support and a sense of ease, where everyone feels included and part of something.

At JOY, no two days feel the same. There is always laughter, shared moments and a team that lifts each other up, even in the busiest times.

It is that environment that shapes everything we create. Because when you enjoy who you work with, it shows in the care, the detail and the meaning behind every piece.

It is not just what we make. It is how we feel while making it, together.
