Exciting news — our new range of polytunnels is now live on the website.

These are proper quality British-made polytunnels, supplied locally to us here in Norfolk by a company just 7 miles down the road.

They range from 10ft wide up to 18ft wide, and up to 90ft long, so there’s options for gardens, allotments, smallholdings and serious growers.

Built to last, great value, and something we’re genuinely pleased to now offer our customers.

Have a look at the full range here:
https://www.oaklandgardens.co.uk/poly-tunnels-474-c.asp

What would you grow first in a polytunnel? Tomatoes, cucumbers, chillies… or would you go completely overboard and fill it with everything? 🌱

Oakland gardens have a huge range of horticultural gardening supplies in stock and are available for home & trade, immediate dispatch anywhere in the UK

Right then… let’s open this can of worms 😅

Peat-free compost.

Some gardeners swear it’s the worst thing they’ve ever used. Others seem to get cracking results with it.

So is peat-free compost actually bad… or are we still treating it like the old stuff and expecting it to behave the same?

I’m genuinely interested in what people are doing differently.

Are you adding feed?
Watering more or less?
Mixing it with anything?
Using a certain brand?
Or have you tried it, hated it, and gone back to what you know?

Be honest… have you had good results with peat-free compost, or have you completely given up on it?

Unpopular opinion…

I don’t think every slug in the garden needs killing 😬

Don’t get me wrong, when they’ve eaten a tray of seedlings overnight it’s enough to make you lose the plot. But do we sometimes go a bit too hard on them?

So let’s settle this…

Are you:

A) B**r trap gardener
B) Pellet gardener
C) Copper tape believer
D) Wool barrier fan
E) Night patrol with a torch
F) “They can have a few leaves” gardener
G) Full slug war, no mercy 😂

Be honest, what actually works best for you?
