It's that time of year again folks.... Our members in the Start Point area are reporting incidents of pots lifted, pots emptied, doors open and doors cut. As if fishing isn't hard enough without dealing with theft and criminal damage!

It's never "just one lobster" ... By the time the season is over, the cumulative impacts of theft and damage will have taken their toll on real people, with real lives.

Friends and followers- please only eat crab and lobster (in fact all seafood) that has come from verifiable, licensed, commercial vessels. Otherwise you might unwittingly be part of the problem.

FISH ON A FRIDAY
From next week onwards we will be opening our shop, at Stokeley Farm Shop, on a Friday only. This will free up Louisa to be able to do a fish box delivery on Saturday mornings. Message me on here if you need fish/crab delivered on a Saturday.

Two events in three days.
The skills of the Salcombe RNLI volunteer crews have been called upon twice in the last three days to assist in two very difficult situations.
The ALB was launched late in the evening of the 26th to assist Plymouth ALB and the Looe lifeboats along with other agencies in the search for an overdue commercial fishing vessel near Eddystone.
The FV was finally located capsized 7miles south of Plymouth with two crew members on the upturned hull. They were recovered to Salcombe ALB before being transferring to the Plymouth lifeboat for transit back to Plymouth and awaiting ambulances. An extensive search in the area around the upturned hull continued through the night for one missing crew member.
Royal Navy divers recovered the missing fisherman at first light from the wheelhouse of the vessel.
The second call late morning 29th saw the Salcombe ALB launched at the request of the Coastguard, responding to a MAYDAY call from a Fishing Vessel with a crew member who had sustained multiple injuries one mile SW of Start Point.
Upon arrival at scene two members of the Lifeboat crew, (one of whom was a doctor), transferred to the fishing vessel to assess the situation and were joined by a Winchman/Paramedic from the Coastguard helicopter. After stabilizing the casualty it was decided that due to the extent of the injuries it would be best to transfer the casualty to the ALB for a safe winch directly to the Helo and onward transfer to Derriford Hospital.
