⚠️ 3 Common Flooring Mistakes to Avoid

Choosing new flooring is exciting, but a few simple mistakes can end up costing more time and money than expected.

Here are three of the most common ones we see:

❌ Choosing style over practicality
A floor might look amazing, but it's important to think about how the room is used every day. The best choice is one that looks great and suits your lifestyle.

❌ Overlooking the condition of the subfloor
A quality floor starts with proper preparation. Making sure the subfloor is level and suitable is essential for a long-lasting finish.

❌ Choosing based on price alone
The cheapest option isn't always the best value. Considering durability, maintenance and how long the flooring is likely to last can save you money in the long run.

A little expert advice before you buy can make all the difference.

If you're planning new flooring and would like some honest guidance, visit one of our showrooms. We'll help you find the right flooring for your home, lifestyle and budget.

Remember the herringbone job we shared last week? Here’s the finished result 👀

We showed a little look at this one while it was being fitted, and now the installation is complete.

Herringbone is always a popular choice, and it’s easy to see why once you see the full floor finished. The pattern adds plenty of character while still giving the room a clean, modern look.

Take a look through the reel to see how it all came together.

If you’re thinking about herringbone flooring for your own home, pop into one of our showrooms and have a look at the different colours and styles available.

A look behind the scenes at this herringbone LVT installation 👀

Herringbone is one of those styles that really starts to come to life as the floor is fitted, and this reel shows the pattern taking shape throughout the room.

Getting the layout right from the start is key to making sure the finished floor looks balanced and flows properly through the space.

We’ve got a separate reel of the finished installation to share next, so keep an eye out for the final result.

A great carpet starts with what’s underneath.

When you’re picking a new carpet, the colour, style and softness usually get most of the attention. But the underlay you choose can make just as much difference.

The right underlay can help:

Make your carpet feel softer and more comfortable underfoot
Reduce everyday wear and help your carpet last longer
Add an extra layer of insulation to your room
Reduce noise between rooms and floors

It’s something you won’t see once your new carpet is fitted, but you’ll certainly notice the difference it makes.

At East Yorkshire Carpets, Beds & Wood Floors, we can help you find the right carpet for your home and make sure it’s paired with the right underlay too.

🏠 LVT throughout the entire home – even the stairs!

Why stop at the hallway or kitchen?

For this home, LVT has been fitted throughout the property, continuing from room to room and even up the staircase – no carpet anywhere.

Using the same flooring throughout creates a really clean, modern finish and gives the whole home a consistent look from top to bottom.

LVT is also a great choice for busy homes thanks to its durability and easy maintenance.

Take a look through the reel to see the finished result 👀

Thinking about LVT for more than just one room? We can help with everything from a single area to a full-house installation.
